4K resolution could be the new trend in the television scene. It’s tough to make any predictions given how new the technology is, however.

Nintendo hasn’t said much about 4K, but Shigeru Miyamoto recently commented on the topic in an interview with 4Gamer.

Miyamoto told the Japanese publication that he doesn’t see 4K being necessary for Zelda, though for Pikmin “making it 4K compatible could possibly further show more small detailed Pikmin moving around, show things from an even further perspective, and being able to see more may make a more fun game.”

An unofficial translation of Miyamoto’s comments reads:

“When it comes to games, I don’t see the need for Zelda in 4K but for Pikmin, making it 4K compatible could possibly further show more small detailed Pikmin moving around, show things from an even further perspective, and being able to see more may make a more fun game.”

As part of the company’s financial results released today, however, it was revealed that this mysterious franchise has been pushed back to FY14-15. It’s currently unclear what caused the delay.

Thankfully, one fan has now painstakingly translated the first portion of 4Gamer’s interview. You can find the full thing here. Get ready for a whole bunch of Pikmin 3 talk!

Ubisoft has decided against holding a press conference at this year’s Gamescom. However, the company will still be very much at the expo with plenty of games on display. Attendees can probably expect titles such as Rayman Legends, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and Assassin’s Creed IV to be playable.

The two names were filed on June 24. Today, both were successfully registered.

It’s worth noting that the two trademarks aren’t for a renewal. None of Nintendo/Intelligent Systems’ older items will be expiring in the near future.

THQ continues to drift into the abyss. The company was approved for liquidation by the US bankruptcy court yesterday, all but signaling its end. This could be one of the last times that a significant piece of news surrounding THQ emerges. Other than settling the remains of THQ’s cash stemming from asset auctions, there isn’t much left of the former publishing giant.
