Although Nintendo won’t be hosting a press conference at E3 this year, we’re hearing rumblings that the company will be holding a smaller event before the expo that will be attended by two bigwigs from the Big N.
The news, which comes from NintendoWorldReport, states that Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime and Shigeru Miyamoto will lead a presentation for the press. It is set to take place on Tuesday morning, the day that is typically reserved for Nintendo’s big media briefings. This lines up with Nintendo’s official comments concerning E3.
Will the press event be streamed? For now, the answer isn’t clear.

EA announced today that it has signed a multi-year exclusive licensing agreement with Disney to develop and publish new Star Wars games. Disney will still be holding on to certain rights when it comes to releases for mobile, social, tablet and online platforms while EA will be handling “new Star Wars titles for a core gaming audience, spanning all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres”.
Disney Interactive co-president John Pleasants said of the deal:
“This agreement demonstrates our commitment to creating quality game experiences that drive the popularity of the Star Wars franchise for years to come. Collaborating with one of the world’s premier game developers will allow us to bring an amazing portfolio of new Star Wars titles to our fans around the world.”
EA Labels President Frank Gibeau added:
“Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe. Three of our top studios will fulfill that dream, crafting epic adventures for Star Wars fans. DICE and Visceral will produce new games, joining the BioWare team which continues to develop for the Star Wars franchise. The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.”
EA did not provide any financial terms in its announcement.

Maverick Hunter was a unique take on the Mega Man X series from Armature Studio. Capcom ended up cancelling the game, but we did get a look at the project last month through various screenshots and videos.
A new piece of concept art has since emerged online courtesy of Adi Granov, who designed Mega Man’s armor. Take a look:

Backbone Entertainment made a couple of intriguing pitches to SEGA. Images posted by a former artist show concept art for a new Streets of Rage game presented to the publisher. Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, and Adam Hunter are showcased in the art. Amazingly, Backbone also pitched a follow-up to the SEGA Genesis game ESWAT.
On a slightly different note, artwork has also surfaced from the unreleased Gauntlet DS game. The title nearly made it out to market, but after a few publisher shifts, was cancelled for unknown reasons.
1-UP Studio website opens
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Fantasy Life developer Brownie Brown changed its name to “1-UP Studio” and underwent a restructure back in February. Now that the process is complete, the company’s new website is open for business.
A greeting message on the site reads:
“On February 2nd, 2013, our company changed its name to 1-UP Studio Inc. from Brown Brown Inc.
Our office moved from Kichijoji to Iidabashi [within Tokyo] and we have been given a fresh start in a new environment.
We, as a staff, would like to work diligently together to develop software that will satisfy our customers.”
There’s also a worthwhile corporate philosophy note on the site:
“I expect that any person familiar with video games will know of the term ‘1-UP’.
It is a term often used to describe the moment the character, being controlled by the player, increases its lives.
The positive images implied by the word ‘increase’ is thus bestowed on our company.
I would like to grow this company into one that steadily builds up its accomplishments step by step.
Mr. Gen Kadoi, Representative Director?
1-UP Studio Inc.”
1-UP Studio is a wholly-owned Nintendo studio. Current staff count stands at 18, which seems to be down from Brownie Brown’s last known figure of 32.
Conker’s Bad Fur Day and Perfect Dark betas included in “Great Rare Fundraiser”

Care to see what Rare was cooking up for Conker’s Bad Fur Day before the game was edited and went through numerous cuts? It was a lot more graphic, though that’s probably putting it mildly.
The debug and ECTS builds of Conker’s Bad Fur Day as well as beta and NTSC versions of Perfect Dark could make it out to the public if enough money is raised. A few folks over at the Assembler Games forum are looking to collect $2,500 in order to make this a reality for fans.
You can find more information on the official forum page here.
