Mass Effect 3: Special Edition has pretty much been a disaster the whole way around. Wii U owners, first of all, are starting off with the third game in the franchise rather than the first.

That wouldn’t be so terrible if EA hadn’t announced – and already released – the Mass Effect Trilogy on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The package contains all three entries in the series. We’ve since heard that DLC such as Omega won’t be coming to the Wii U at this time.

Despite all of the negative news, there could be a bit of hope regarding Mass Effect’s future on Nintendo’s home console. In an interview with GamerSyndone, the company teased that it does have “plans” for Wii U, “but nothing to announce at this moment.” It also hinted that the Mass Effect Trilogy could head to Wii U, reiterating: “Never Say Never”.

Spike TV handed out rewards to a bunch of games across more than 20 categories. The show has now come to a close and the full lineup of winners have been revealed.

Head past the break for a listing of each prizewinner.

The UK-based Netflix-style streaming application “LOVEFiLM” is now available for download on Wii U for those of you who live in the wonderful land of Europe! You do need to have a paid account to actually access any of the content, but without one you’re still able to browse through all of the movies and shows to salivate over what you’re missing, and then convince yourself to buy a subscription.

Or, hey, you could always get one of those “free trial” things. That’s a great way to try something for free!

We’re just a few hours away from the 2012 VGAs. This won’t necessarily be a huge event in the world of Nintendo, but it’s a big night for games in general and there will be Nintendo-related content at the show.

First and foremost, it’s been confirmed that the Assassin’s Creed III: The Tyranny of King Washington DLC will make its deubt. This content will be coming to the Wii U version of the game sometime in the future. There are also several titles on Nintendo systems nominated for awards, so it should be interesting to see how the results pan out. And there’s always the possibility that an unannounced multiplatform game or two could come to a Nintendo system.

You’ll be able to watch the VGA 2012 pre-show here at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST. The awards show itself will debut one hour later and should be viewable on the same page.

“We’ve got a very strong line-up, lots of titles and activities aimed at Christmas, but we’ve already got plans for Q1. Lots of new titles like Monster Hunter, but also repromotions and things like that. We definitely want to maintain momentum in Q1 – that’s our focus right now.” – Head of Consumer Marketing (and new-kid-on-the-block) James Honeywell

“Nintendo always makes sure it launches games throughout the year. We don’t really focus particularly on Christmas. We’ve got a strong line-up all the way through the year. We always have the marketing to support that. We have plans to take sampling all the way through the year. For us, it’s not just about launch, it’s about building momentum and maintaining that over a long period of time.”

The more I think about it, the more amazed I am at how many amazing new Wii U games we’ll be getting over the coming months. The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, Wii Fit U… the list just goes on! And that’s not even talking about what’s coming next holiday! My guess is the next Smash Bros.
