Numerous third-parties preparing Wii U announcements
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but third-parties have title reveals planned for Nintendo’s new console. MCV says “that a number of publishers are preparing Wii U announcements”.
Third-party Wii U support has been slightly minimal overall. Major companies including Capcom have yet to announce any projects for the system, but the publisher says it’ll have news “very soon”.
Chances are we’ll be seeing more third-party efforts during Nintendo’s fall conference which will be held next month.
Capcom sorry for making Monster Hunter fans wait for news, says “there is an end to this madness”
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
We’re quickly closing in one Monster Hunter Tri G’s one year anniversary in Japan. In just a few more months, the game will have been released one year ago in the territory.
The wait for some sort of overseas Monster Hunter news has been agonizing for North American and European fans. The company has continuously teased news and announcements, leading some to believe that Tri G would soon see a localization confirmation. Unfortunately, nothing has been revealed during two of the year’s biggest gaming expos – both E3 and Gamescom lacked news about the franchise.
So where do we stand now? Capcom community specialist Yuri Araujo says that he doesn’t like making fans wait for news, “but I have to.”
“There’s a right time and place for everything… but I assure you that, as a MH fan myself, I don’t like making you wait; but I have to. Sorry.”
Araujo also posted in another thread:
“Good news: there is an end to this madness.
Bad news: just like I said in the other thread, I hate making you wait… but I have to. =(“

Former Factor 5 developer on relationship with Nintendo, Rogue Squadron II VC/3DS interest
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, General Nintendo, News, Wii | 0 comments
There was a time when Factor 5 was one of the more reliable developers around. The company churned out titles such as the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games, and was heavily rumored to be working on a Kid Icarus reboot for Wii. However, it wasn’t long before Factor 5 lost its steam and it is now all but defunct.
Former Factor 5 developer Albert Chen opened up on a few important topics in a new interview, including the creation of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, the studio’s relationship with Nintendo, and his person interest in seeing Rogue Squadron II brought to the Virtual Console/3DS.
Highlights include:
– Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II was completed in nine months
– There were early talks with Microsoft about doing a Turrican game on the Xbox 360, but nothing ever came from this
– “Not sure which publisher got the most proposals from us, but we had a long relationship with LucasArts and Nintendo.”
– says “Wii is essentially an upgraded Gamecube.”
– On Miyamoto saying that Factor 5 was working closely with Nintendo on a project in 2003: “Factor 5 had a very good relationship with Nintendo until the Gamecube started losing the console wars to the PS2 and Xbox. There were some discussions about working with Miyamoto, but most of the dev team was in the dark.”
– Interest in seeing Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II on the Virtual Console or a 3DS remake
Be sure to read the entire interview here.

Capcom thought about Remember Me for Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Earlier today, Capcom announced a new collaboration with Dontnod Entertainment for the upcoming project “Remember Me”. This kind of title seemed like it would be a perfect fit on Nintendo’s new console, given its unique style and gameplay. It doesn’t hurt that some gamers feel that it’s somewhat comparable to Capcom’s old GameCube release, P.N.03.
Remember Me was considered for Wii U at one point, but to put it simply, Capcom decided against the idea. The company felt that burdening Dontnod with new hardware would be a poor move and it wanted to keep the studio focused.
Capcom’s Christian Svensson explained on the Capcom-Unity boards:
“As for WiiU, this project was started many years ago, long before WiiU was even a twinkle in Nintendo’s eye. We explored the idea of adding a SKU, but in the name of keeping the team focused and not adding dev tasks for the team to get up to speed on new hardware and time to the schedule, we’ve opted to keep it on the original platforms for which it was planned.”
