Super Mario Bros. recreated on the Atari 2600
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Videos | 0 comments
I have to admit, this is pretty darn impressive. Remember: Atari 2600 is a much different system compared to the NES, and it has many more limitations than Nintendo’s classic console. Its creator says that the finished product is “pretty close” to Super Mario Bros.
16 levels are included in this “demo” – World 1-1 through 4-4. Again, there are limitations that prevent it from being an exact clone, but it’s still incredibly neat.
There’s lots of additional information here.

Nintendo Power ending with final magazine in December
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Nintendo Power will continue on with a few more issues, but the print magazine will officially be shut down in December.
A statement provided by Nintendo reads:
“Nintendo can confirm that Future US will end the production of Nintendo Power magazine with the last issue slated for December 2012.”
CVG still stands by its original statement that “Future Publishing is also considering how and if it should take Nintendo Power in a new digital direction”. Nothing has been announced on this front, however.
It’s still not entirely clear how Future will be handling on-going subscriptions, but you should visit the customer service page for more information.

Nintendo of Europe apparently not holding Wii U event
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
The Wii and 3DS were both accompanied with press events in North America and Europe prior to launch. With Wii U, though, it seems that there will other be a gathering in New York City.
An official statement from Nintendo reads that an event hasn’t been planned for Europe. NOE will have to announce its own launch information at some point, though the details may come through nothing more than a press release.
The statement in full:
“We are not planning a specific European event like NOA, however we are looking to put the new Wii U console in the hands of as many people across Europe as possible and we will be in contact with news of our UK communications plan in the near future.”
Nintendo of America should be sharing news about the Wii U launch on September 13. President Reggie Fils-Aime will be on hand to reveal “more about how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment.”
