These images are larger than the last batch at least!

We can’t catch a break, can we?! The scans are either too blurry or too small…

It’s a bit blurry, but this is what we have for now…

Thus far, the 3DS’ path has been far from what anyone could have predicted. The system started off with a rather high price point and a dearth of must-have software. Just a few weeks ago, Nintendo dropped the price of the 3DS by $80. I doubt anyone would have expected a price cut so soon after the handheld launched. It also lacked a second analog controller… but Nintendo is “sort of” rectifying that issue now.

Everyone pointed and laughed at the idea of a second circle pad attachment for the 3DS when 01Net originally reported on the rumor. Most Nintendo fans assumed that the idea was ridiculous and that the site’s speculation was completely unfounded… rightfully so. Yet, a couple of hours ago, we received confirmation that Nintendo is developing the “Expansion Slide Pad” for the 3DS.

We actually don’t know much about the attachment. What we do know is that it’s a bit bulky and it’s more than a simple-add on. As you can see in this photo, it’s actually a completely new unit that attaches onto the system.

The last six months have bit extremely odd for the 3DS – again, there’s been an underwhelming launch, a quick price drop, and now a strange second slide pad for the system.

What’s next? Will Nintendo release an updated handheld with the extra slide pad built-in?

In any case, it’s time for you guys to sound off. I’m quite curious about some of the reactions you guys have regarding the 3DS Expansion Slide Pad!

It’s sounding like Monster Hunter Tri 3G had at least some impact on Nintendo’s new 3DS analog peripheral, named “Expansion Slide Pad”.

Monster Hunter series supervisor Ryozo Tsujimoto, who was interviewed in Famitsu this week, said that the add-on is a “secret weapon” and will bring the same feeling of Monster Hunter Tri on Wii to the 3DS. Additionally, Tsujimoto said that the whole peripheral unit provides a good grip on the system.

Rumor no more! This scan proves that Nintendo is indeed developing a right slide pad attachment for the 3DS.

It seems to be the common consensus now that the right 3DS slide pad attachment and Monster Hunter Tri G reveals are the real deal. I’m maintaining a bit of skepticism, but I’m posting this under the assumption that the latest reports are legitimate.

In any case, here’s what the Japanese boards are saying about Monster Hunter Tri G:

– When the touch screen is pressed, you’ll automatically turn around towards a monster
– Features wireless play
– New featured monster
– 12 weapon categories
– Water areas are back
– Different control for underwater sections
– Playable at TGS
– Launching late 2011 in Japan

Technically Nintendo’s new right slide pad hasn’t been confirmed. However, it’s starting to sound more and more likely as the minutes pass by. Here’s how the peripheral is supposedly described as in Famitsu…

– Peripheral placed towards the right of the ABXY buttons
– Attachment has an R2 button
– This means the 3DS will have L1, R1, and R2 buttons, but not L2
– Peripheral apparently clips onto the whole 3DS (like a charger)
– Juts out 1cm at left, 2-3cm at right, 2cm at bottom, 2-3cm in thickness

Again, this peripheral hasn’t been confirmed. If it’s true, we should be able to verify the news (and the details above) soon…
