In this week’s Pokemon Shuffle we have a new stage, Granbull (Winking), running until January 9th. There will also be an Arcanine and competitive Kyurem stage running til January 2nd.
Buzzwole, Meloetta Pirouette Forme, Hitmonlee, Silvally and Keldeo Resolute Form will also be beginning their repeat runs.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp – New Year’s event now live

Nintendo has kicked off a special New Year’s event in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Players will find new furniture, clothing, and more.
While the event is live, you may get countdown charms when completing requests from animals. If you collect enough, you’ll earn special New Year’s-themed items. It’s also possible to unlock New Year’s-themed clothing by completing animal requests.

Nintendo on the struggle of balancing various aspects during Switch’s development, prototypes

Creating the Switch was no easy task. In previous interviews, Nintendo has brought up how the word “balance” was key during development. This was something that was mentioned again in an interview with Toyo Keizai.
General Switch producer Yoshiaki Koizumi noted how game developers tend to be interested memory and a quality GPU for higher specs. As a developer himself, Koizumi can understand this. However, there was also the need to make the machine light, small, and stylish while giving consideration to the battery as well. On top of everything else, Nintendo only had a set amount of time and resources to produce the new console. So ultimately, balancing all of these different aspects was the most difficult part in developing Switch.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey devs share thoughts about each other’s games

Two of the biggest and best games this year were made by Nintendo. We’re of course referring to Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.
Recently, IGN caught up with developers of both games to hear about what they think about each other’s games. Super Mario Odyssey producer Yoshiaki Koizumi plus Zelda: Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi and producer Eiji Aonuma shared their thoughts.
Switch eShop currently down, plus upcoming maintenance

Update 4: All of the eShops are back up.
Update 3: Hearing reports that the Switch eShop may have gone down again, or is still down for some. Will continue to monitor.
Update 2: Switch is back up. So currently, Wii U and 3DS are the only systems impacted as of 1:40 PM ET.
Update: Bumped to the top. Wii U and 3DS eShops are now down as well.
Original: Since early this morning, the Switch eShop has been offline. Nintendo hasn’t said what the cause is, but one possibility is an influx of traffic. It’s Christmas after all, and there could be a whole lot of people receiving the system as a gift today.

Japanese developers and industry members vote on the best games of 2017

This week’s issue of Famitsu has a year-end feature with tons of developers and industry members. Representatives from Square Enix, Capcom, Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, PlatinumGames, and other companies were asked to rank their top five games played from January to December. Others participated as well such as several voice actors.
