Update: Game Informer just uploaded a video of Game Freak and Ohmori talking about Pokemon and Switch. We’ve added that in below.

Original: As mentioned earlier today, Game Informer’s latest issue contains a significant feature about Pokemon. The magazine visited Game Freak’s offices in Japan to reminisce about the franchise’s early days, the various entries, and more.

Switch was also one topic discussed. At E3 in June, it was announced that a brand new Pokemon game is planned for the system. Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori both spoke about Switch and making a game on the platform.

A new trailer has been published for the Pokemon Duel summer update that went live earlier today. Watch the video below.

Severed was announced and released for Switch today. If you do plan on picking the game up, keep in mind that you can’t play it while docked. That was to be expected given the nature of Severed, but is worth mentioning.

Severed isn’t the only Switch game that can only be played in Handheld mode. The system has a few other titles that operate similarly, such as Voez.

Just this past weekend we discussed the strange situation surrounding Dragon Quest XI on Switch. Even though the release on Nintendo’s new console was announced ages ago, Square Enix has yet to show or say anything about this version.

Executive producer Yu Miyake finally broke the silence in an interview with Toyo Keizai. According to Miyake, he explained that it takes time to work on “technical adjustments,” so Square Enix is still in a state in which it can’t speak about a launch date. However, the Switch version is being developed with the intent to release it.

Dragon Quest XI has already shipped on 3DS and PlayStation 4. A western release is planned for 2018, though Square Enix has been keeping quiet on which platforms it will be localizing.

July was a pretty good month for Nintendo in the UK. The big N was the top games company in terms of revenue generated with a 21.2 percent share of the boxed software market. The higher price of Switch software was a factor here, as was Splatoon 2. The Switch game was the highest charting new release of July, taking the second spot.

GamesIndustry points out that Switch made up 9.7 percent of all the physical games sold in July. And in terms of revenue, Switch held a 16.3 percent share of the market.
