Donkey Kong Country Returns HD graphics comparison

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD was just announced for Switch today, and a new video offers a graphics comparison that puts it up against the original Wii version. 3DS is technically included here as well, as that was essentially the Wii version at a lower resolution.

As far as we know, Donkey Kong Country Returns will now run in full HD on Switch, but otherwise it’s largely the same. One bonus is that the new levels made for the 3DS version will be included in the latest version.

Nintendo World Championships Survival Mode Legend Challenge

We have a new look at Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition with the “Survival Mode & Legend Challenge” trailer. 

In Survival Mode, you’ll be racing against the ghost data of players worldwide. Legend Challenge involves testing your skills, such as completing Super Mario Bros. from World 1-1 to World 8-4 the short way (with Warp Zones).

The Smurfs: Dreams release date

The 3D platformer The Smurfs: Dreams received a final release date today. Switch owners can pick it up on October 24, 2024, Microids and Ocellus Studio confirmed.

The Smurfs: Dreams is a 3D platformer first announced in April. Though we knew it was planned for this year, exact timing was unclear until now.

Yars Rising release date

Yars Rising now has a release date, courtesy of Atari and WayForward. The two sides confirmed today that it arrives for Switch on September 10, 2024.

Yars Rising was previously announced during an Indie World Showcase just a couple of months ago. Atari initially committed to a general 2024 launch window.

With the June 2024 Nintendo Direct starting in just an hour, we’ve set up a live stream as well as a live blog. As a reminder, the event begins at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3 PM in the UK / 4 PM in Europe.

Nintendo says that the 40-minute presentation will focus on Switch games launching in the second half of 2024. There will be no mention of the system’s successor here.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Odin

Atlus is showing off yet another demon in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, and this time around, we’ve got a look at Odin. This creature has been prominently featured in the RPG going back to the original reveal many years ago.

Lesson Learned gameplay

Those interested in getting a closer look at Lesson Learned can do so with new gameplay. The tower defense title landed on Switch this week.

Monolith gameplay

Monolith, which ended up on Switch just recently, has seen a new wave of gameplay. Over a half hour of footage is available for the sci-fi point-and-click adventure experience.

Arcade Archives Vs. Star Luster gameplay
