If you boot up the Zelda community on Miiverse today, you’ll notice that there’s a new message from series producer Eiji Aonuma.

Aonuma touched on the news that Japan will be receiving The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages on the 3DS eShop next week. He confirmed that a North American release is planned, though “it’ll be a little while longer till they’re out in other territories.” Aonuma asked fans for their patience.

Here’s something interesting: Nintendo released Kersploosh! (known as Splash or Crash in Europe) on the Japanese 3DS eShop when the store initially launched. The game only has ten levels.

Fans of the Toki Tori series may remember that the series started out on the Game Boy Color. The game is also available on the 3DS eShop right now.

Toki Tori’s portable roots begs the question: could we ever see Toki Tori 2 on the 3DS? The short answer is no.

On Twitter, Two Tribes explained that Nintendo’s portable isn’t capable of running the title fast enough.
In order to make it happen, the studio would need to “use the same systems but build a different game around it that suits the hardware better.”
