Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

Lizardcube stopped by Gamekult this week and showed off an hour of footage from Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. Ahead of the game’s April 18 launch on Switch, you can watch an hour of footage below.

Snake Pass developer Sumo Digital recently held an AmA on the Nintendo Switch Subreddit and answered quite a few questions. You can check out the full AmA here; we’ve highlighted some of the most interesting answers below:

On the possibility of a physical version:

We’re exploring our options.

On the lack of Time Trial mode in the Switch version:

It was a tough call to make considering how we wanted to ensure we were able to launch the Switch version with all the other platforms day and date on top of how much time we had to work on the Switch to begin with. Needless to say, we are getting Time Trials in a future patch.

On the possibility of a sequel:

We’d definitely love to continue Noodle’s and Doodle’s adventures, so here’s to hoping!

On how the game got started:

It came from an internal game jam that Seb [won] with his “Snake Simulator” project. We felt like we had something special and took it to a concept phase for four months trying to make a game out of the idea. We took it to EGX Rezzed last year and it got a lot of praise, so it got green lit to full production!

Animal Gods finally appeared on the Wii U eShop today. In the future, it may end up on Switch as well.

Still Games told one fan on Facebook that they’re fans of the console, and porting it over is a “goal”. There’s definitely no talk about a potential release window at this time, but we’ll keep an eye out for news going forward.

ACA NeoGeo Alpha Mission II launched on Switch today as a new entry in the Arcade Archives series. View the official trailer below.

Old Time Hockey’s initial release took place at the end of last month. Unfortunately, the Switch version is quite a ways off.

On the latest Fragments of Silicon podcast, V7 Entertainment’s Mike Torillo indicated that Old Time Hockey will be coming to Switch this fall. The team has only done “super preliminary work” thus far, but updates will be posted on social media.

V7 currently intends to carry out an initial port. The studio will then follow up by looking into potential Switch-specific features. Nintendo has apparently shown interest in seeing what the team could do differently on their system.

You can listen to the full podcast and interview with Torillo after the break.

Many studios have come forward noting just how easy it is to develop for Switch. You can add Choice Provisions to that pile as well.

Speaking with Autopress, Choice Provisions said that the team had Runner3 running on Switch in just a single day. Since then, “it’s been smooth sailing”.

“We were nervous at first about developing for the Switch, simply because there are always unknowns with new platforms. We ended up getting the game running on the console in only a day, however, and it’s been smooth sailing ever since!”

Runner3 will be out on Switch later this year as an exclusive.
