Wii

There’s a mix of good and bad news to report on regarding The Pinball Arcade.

First, the game isn’t coming to Wii. It’s not going to happen because of technical issues. And let’s face it: at this point, it’d be pointless to bring it to the console.

Developer FarSight Studios was able to confirm a Wii U version, however. The developer hopes to finish the game up “as close to the launch of the platform as possible.”

As was written on Facebook:

“FarSight developed 12 titles for the Wii. Unfortunately, the Wii isn’t powerful enough to run Pinball Arcade. We are very excited about the Wii-U and hope to release as close to the launch of the platform as possible.”

The Pinball Arcade was also being developed for the 3DS, but it’s been placed on the back burner.

FarSight Studios explained:

“We have a plan to get the performance we need out of the 3DS to run the ROM emulation, however some R&D is needed before we know for sure whether it will work. The 3DS version is on hold until we can invest the time and resources into this R&D.”

Not the prettiest results, but you have to give these guys credit for their work… was probably just a rough import in any case!

The latest review scores from Consoles + are as follows. Scores are out of 20:

The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition – 18

Kinect Star Wars – 12

Back to the Future: The Game – 14
Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland – 10

We wouldn’t normally feature scores from a completely random magazine. In this case though, Consoles + has the first verdicts for Project Zero 2: Wii Edition and Heroes of Ruin. We’ll try to track down some details from both of these reviews…

Thanks to Thaoivu for the tip.

The folks over at Blogocio chatted with Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham at iDÉAME 2012. The entire discussion can be found in the video above.

Watsham discussed anything and everything you’d want to know about the company – the status of Planet Crashers and the European release of Mutant Mudds, an idea to make an original first-person shooter on the eShop, Wii U thoughts, and more.

There won’t be any free-roaming gameplay in the Wii, 3DS, and DS versions of The Amazing Spider-Man. That’s according to GameStop, which says that the feature will only be included in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions.

Activision hasn’t actually shared any official information about The Amazing Spider-Man on Nintendo platforms specifically. But if GameStop’s message holds true, it doesn’t sound like there will be an open world to explore.

That’d be a bewildering decision given the fact that Spider-Man 2 featured an open world on the GameCube. The Amazing Spider-Man is an entirely different game of course, but we were expecting the Wii and 3DS versions to be somewhat comparable to Beenox’s efforts on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The DS edition, on the other hand, could end up as a 2D experience much like Echoes of Time.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

New details on The Amazing Spider-Man have emerged from the latest issue of Game Informer. The magazine was able to experience the title for three hours, taking in its gameplay mechanics, plot, and more.
