Beenox is working on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it has been revealed. Activision will publish the game in May 2014 for Wii U, 3DS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. The launch will tie in with next year’s film.

Beenox’s François Taddei says The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will offer “more challenges”, an improved and more realistic web-swing mechanic, and a battle system with more depth. The story will apparently encompass more than just the film in order to delve deeper into Peter Parker’s personality.

Fans can expect new villains as well as familiar faces. Thanks to a new “Hero” system, Manhattan will feel more lively, and there will be consequences for letting chaos happens.

More details should be revealed at Comic Con later today.

This week’s GameStop ad has gone live. Aside from Rayman Legends’ continued discount, there isn’t a whole lot here unfortunately. You can pick up a pre-owned Wii or DS Lite for $50, but that’s about it.

During last week’s Nintendo Direct, a pair of special Wii Remote Plus products were announced. Mario and Luigi will both receiving specially-designed controllers next month.

Pre-orders for both Wiimotes are now open. You can reserve the Mario version here or Luigi version here.

In other news, I came across a discount for Tales of the Abyss while browsing on Amazon today. The 3DS RPG is currently 50% off. It’s actually one of my personal favorite titles on the system, so I’d recommend it. It’s not for everyone, though!

Last week, news surfaced of Nintendo’s plans to end production of the Wii in Japan. It doesn’t sound like there are similar plans in the west.

Eurogamer was told by Nintendo that the message was specific to Japan. The company also said, “We have made no specific announcements for Europe regarding Wii production.” That’s the same situation in the states as well.

Nintendo’s statement in full reads:

“Yes, NCL did update their website on 29th August with a small notice to state that Wii hardware production will stop in the near future. This specific message was referring to the Japanese market. No specific time frame has been stated yet. We have made no specific announcements for Europe regarding Wii production.”

LEGO games tend to release on a regular basis. This year alone we’ve seen LEGO City: Undercover, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins, and LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is also due out later this month.

Yet despite the frequent launches of LEGO titles, there is “absolutely no fatigue at all and there is actually a demand for different experiences.”

Warner Bros. senior vice president for international games Olivier Wolff told GamesIndustry:
