Mario Kart World update 1.1.0

Alongside the launch of Mario Kart World, Nintendo has prepared a version 1.1.0 update. Those who are starting to get access to Nintendo Switch 2 can download it now.

The patch brings along various features, including support for the camera and LAN play. Other adjustments have been made, including the lineup of characters that are initially available.

The full rundown is as follows:

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Nintendo Switch 2

June 2: A brief trailer has come in for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet showing the game running on Nintendo Switch 2. This comes from a post on the Nintendo Today app.

When the new system comes out this week, players will be able to download a free patch. This makes a number of technical improvements, including a bump up to 60 frames per second. Additionally, the games have been optimized for the display on the system’s screen and high-resolution TVs – meaning improved visual quality.

Another round of Nintendo Switch game updates have gone live, which improve compatibility on Switch 2.

These patches are separate for the ones that just dropped that focus on visual and technical improvements. For example, Nintendo identified screen flickering issues with Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which it has now started to address. Also, for Super Mario 3D All-Stars, you’ll need to download the new patch – otherwise you can’t actually play on Nintendo Switch 2.

Here’s the full lineup:

Nintendo has started distribution of previously-announced free updates for existing Switch games with various improvements on Switch 2.

The improvements vary by game. Some have received a visual bump, frame rate increase, and more. There are some other specifics such as Game Builder Garage getting mouse support.

The full rundown is as follows:

Mario Kart World Diddy Kong

Mario Kart World has a ton of different characters – both new and old – but there’s a notable absence as Diddy Kong doesn’t appear to be on the roster. While IGN recently attempted to get some clarity from the game’s producer, it seems Nintendo is keeping quiet at the moment.

Diddy Kong originally appeared in Mario Kart: Double Dash on the GameCube. He’s been featured in other titles since then, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe through the Booster Course Pass.

Mario Kart World features a big map that players can full explore, with many fans describing it as an open world. However, Nintendo itself isn’t big on using that term as a label for its Nintendo Switch 2 racer.

Speaking with The Washington Post, Kosuke Yabuki said that the “open world” term is “just a little bit too ambiguously defined.” That’s why we’ve seen Nintendo refer to the explorable map as “Free Roam” instead.

MechAnimals

Today, BouncyBrain announced that its new game MechAnimals will be seeing release on Nintendo Switch. As of now the studio is keeping quiet on launch timing.

MechAnimals is a roguelite beat ’em up game in which players control critter pilots and their mighty mechs to battle an evil megacorporation in a diesel-punk universe. The team consists of  animation veterans with credits on Kung Fu Panda, The Super Mario Bros. Mario Movie, and Minions.

Mario Kart World 200cc

At least at launch, Mario Kart World will not include a 200cc mode.

200cc was introduced for the first time with Mario Kart 8. However, it was actually available immediately in that title either – Nintendo brought it to the game later on as an update.

April 2: Firaxis has just shared that Civilization 7 is getting a Nintendo Switch 2 version. The game will be available for Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.

Civilization 7 previously made it to the current Nintendo Switch. When it heads to the new console, it will feature support for new mouse controls.

Yosei Wars

Rawrlab Games is making Yosei Wars for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, the studio announced today. A release window was not shared.

Yosei Wars is a 2D platformer inspired by the Game Boy era and arcade titles. In fact, it was originally designed as a homebrew release for Nintendo’s retro portable.
