Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Depths origins interview

Nintendo has spoken about how the Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came to be, including how it was formed late in development. It also turns out that the area came as a surprise to producer Eiji Aonuma. Once again, this information comes from the recently-released art book in Japan.

Outside of Aonuma, director Hidemaro Fujibayashi also participated in the discussion. You can read our translation of the excerpt below.

When you think about where Switch was for its launch compared to now in terms of user icons, it’s a pretty big difference. For awhile, certain system updates would slowly add new designs over time. Then at the very end of 2022, a new benefit was added for Nintendo Switch Online in which members could spend My Nintendo Points on icons. We now get new ones pretty regularly, often tying in to new game launches.

User icons are ultimately a pretty small thing, but allow fans to express themselves in different ways. Which are you using at the moment? Let us know in the comments.

Reynatis review

System: Switch
Release date: September 27, 2024
Developer: FuRyu
Publisher: NIS America

Worlds of wizards and magic aren’t uncommon in the gaming world, but a setting as realistic as modern-day Shibuya, Tokyo does add a flavor that makes Reynatis stand out immediately. Flashy modern day outfits, blazing weapons, and flashy skills with fights breaking out on realistic representations of streets we could go and walk today. Reynatis is set in a prefecture bursting with commerce, the towering shopping malls, businesses, and bistros bustle with traffic of consumers and business people alike. Shibuya is the pinnacle of Japan’s fashion industry, boasts an incredible music scene, and the food is absolutely to die for. Also, for whatever reason, it seems to attract wizards.

ACA NeoGeo Selection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2

September 4: According to retailer listings, SNK is readying ACA NeoGeo Selection Vol. 1 and ACA NeoGeo Selection Vol. 2 for physical release on Switch. Both will be available in Japan on December 12, 2024.

These titles were previously sold as part of the ACA NeoGeo series on the Switch eShop. Now, however, they’ll be bundled into two physical packages at retail.

Here’s the rundown of games in each:

Freedom Wars sequel

Freedom Wars is back after a decade, and if things go well with the remaster, it could lead to a sequel.

Director Takashi Tsukamoto was speaking about the game’s return in an interview with IGN. He said that Dimps has “been looking for opportunities to release something, maybe a sequel – something related to Freedom Wars”, but “it was very difficult to set up a team and nothing was really lining up.” That’s when the idea of a remaster came about.

The Plucky Squire gameplay

The long-awaited Switch game The Plucky Squire made it out this week, and plenty of gameplay is available. Fans can check out the opening 2D segments of the title.

Check out the following overview for a rundown of the game:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem release date

July 11: Outright Games just came through with a release date for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed. The game will be out for Switch on October 18, 2024.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed was properly announced back in March. In May, news was shared about the special editions, which you can find here.

The 7 Star Serperior Tera Raid Battle for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is live now. It goes from now until September 22nd, and then it comes back a week later from September 27 to September 29. This time, Serperior is running Tera Grass, which boosts its signature Contrary Leaf Storms to nuclear power. That means you’d better have Sap Sipper or a really solid and bulky Grass-type resistance. If you’re looking to take down this tough opponent, check out our strategy below.

Starting today, Switch owners can get their hands on a brand new demo for RPG Maker With. The trial is being made available ahead of next month’s launch.

Additionally, NIS America announced the RPG Maker With Wiki – which you can access here. This is designed to assist players with mastering the title’s tools. The Wiki covers everything from how to make a game in ten minutes to in-depth guides for seasoned creators.
