October has rolled in, and as part of that, a new wave of backwards compatibility fixes are available for Nintendo Switch 1 games on Switch 2.
You may remember that both systems received a new firmware update this week. We mentioned that there could be backwards compatibility fixes even though Nintendo only highlighted stability improvements, which turned out to be the case.
A new Nintendo lawsuit is making the rounds in which the company is looking for $4,500,000 in damages from Switch piracy Reddit moderator Archbox. This person operated multiple piracy sites.
Nintendo says that the defendant “has engaged in the infringing and unlawful reproduction and distribution of hundreds or thousands of copyrighted Nintendo Switch Games, and that through the various Pirate Shops, he has distributed or facilitated the distribution of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of unauthorized copies of such Nintendo Switch Games.”
AI is a hot topic these days around the world, and Nintendo is no stranger to those discussions. The company has been asked for its thoughts previously and has expressed some skepticism.
Now we’re hearing that Nintendo is lobbying Japanese government in the fight against generative AI. That news comes from Satoshi Asano, who serves on the House of Representatives with the Democratic Party for the People in Japan. Nintendo is only a small part of his lengthy media post, but Asano claims the company “avoids using generative AI to protect its IP and is also engaging in lobbying activities with the government.”
Thousands of games are currently available on Switch, and there are a ton of demos out there for many of them. Not just Nintendo, but also third-parties are offering demos. We’ve now put together a comprehensive list of what’s out there.
Since our reader base is English-speaking, that’s what we’re focusing on here. In other words, we’re highlighting Switch demos that you can find in North America and Europe. Japan has a few extra demos on its end, but a majority of them are for titles that are not currently being sold in the west and are only playable in Japanese.
Dreland Enterprises and ArtDock have announced that their new game Pao Pao will be heading to Nintendo Switch soon. We don’t have a date yet, but it’s targeting a November launch.
Pao Pao, a sandbox sim, has players managing a restaurant with up to four players. Managing your restaurant is a core mechanic, but you can also explore the world and meet NPCs, play mini-games, and more.

The latest Nintendo Switch 2 eShop charts for the week of October 4, 2025 are now available.
It won’t come as much of a surprise, but Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is #1 in its first week. Right behind it is Super Mario Galaxy 2, with Super Mario Galaxy at #6. The sequel is likely more popular given the previous Super Mario 3D All-Stars release for Galaxy 1.

The developers behind Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots have spoken about the decision to bring back the franchise.
This was a milestone release for a couple of reasons. First, it’s been several years since the franchise has seen a new entry – and even longer if you don’t count the 2019 VR game. Additionally, this is the first time that Everybody’s Golf has gone multiplatform, meaning it’s on a Nintendo system for the first time.
When asked by Japanese magazine Famitsu how Bandai Namco ended up working on Everybody’s Golf, which was originally a PlayStation-published series, producer Tomokazu Fukazawa said:
Today, we’re going over an age-old question: who are the strongest Nintendo characters according to canon? The answer to that is usually Kirby, but it’s not quite that simple when you lay things out. With that said, it’s impossible to talk about strong Nintendo characters without going over spoilers. This post contains hefty spoilers for Kirby, Bayonetta, Zelda, Metroid, and Xenoblade – so if you’re trying to avoid story details for any of those games, you might want to come back later.
