Well, there you have it: The first ever NEBC game is Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. In order to participate in the discussion, you should pick up the game within the next few days. Your options to obtain the game are as follows:
Wii Virtual Console Copy ($8 on the Wii Shop Channel)
Deadline for email submissions this week: April 12th
Well, this is the first week of the NEBC ever, so we’re going to take it very slow: Simply obtain the first star piece in the game, and stop there. We’ll all know more about what that means when we start the game I hope!
Since we can’t easily divide by chapters (like you could with a book) we’re better off aiming low and finishing quickly rather than having to scramble and accidentally leaving folks behind. Once we have a better handle on how the game is paced, we’ll adjust our weekly goals.
Also, please do not send us emails discussing portions of the game beyond where the book club is. We want to avoid spoilers and we don’t want to feel unable to answer your questions/respond to your comments, so if you’ve gotten ahead of everyone (which is fine!) do your best to only talk about the parts that we’ve all agreed upon. :]
Hit the break for info on how to participate in a discussion, plus other ‘Frequently Asked Questions’!
During Nintendo Direct’s February broadcast, Nintendo teased an exclusive Animal Crossing: New Leaf feature for both North America and Europe. The company has now made the mystery inclusion public through the newly-translated Iwata Asks interview.
New Leaf allows players to collect houses through StreetPass and view them in the Happy Home Showcase. According to an editor’s note posted in the the Iwata Asks discussion, Nintendo plans to distribute its own homes in this area. Nothing mind-blowing, but a neat little feature for sure.
Witch & Hero has been confirmed for the North American 3DS eShop next week. A release is planned for April 18.
European 3DS owners can already purchase Witch & Hero, as it launched on the digital store last week. It’s available for £3.60.
Namco Bandai is doing something incredible for the launch of Project X Zone. For no extra cost, the company is releasing a limited edition version of the 3DS game that packs in a copy of the game, soundtrack, mini-poster, and mini-art book.
GameStop posted a first look at the Project X Zone Limited Edition contents. Take a look below:

There hasn’t been a new Road Rash entry in well over a decade. DarkSeas Games is looking to remedy the situation with a unique take on the series.
On Kickstarter, DarkSeas is looking to gather $160,000 in total in order to create “Road Redemption”. The developer says that the game will provide players with “state-of-the-industry combat controls, insane crashes, destructible environments, AI, ragdoll physics and online multiplayer.” DarkSeas also promises a whole slew of mission types, varied arsenal, and more.
Road Redemption is strictly a PC, Mac, and Linux game at present. However, DarkSeas will consider versions for the Wii U as well as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360.
You can find more information about Road Redemption here.
A few Puzzles & Dragons Z details have escaped this month’s CoroCoro. The magazine mentions that the game will include 3DS-exclusive drops that result in a big explosion when cleared, and there are over 200 monsters to collect. A release is planned for winter in Japan.
Sunbreak Games launched a Kickstarter for Buddy & Me in March. After receiving requests from Nintendo fans as well as journalists, the indie dev has now added in a Wii U version to the campaign as a stretch goal. Buddy & Me will officially come to the Wii U eShop if Sunbreak manages to raise $55,000 on Kickstarter.
A wise man once said, “don’t ever forget where you came from.” For the past few weeks, I’ve received a flood of questions and comments from journalists and Nintendo fans from the Metroid Prime days, asking whether or not we would consider a Nintendo version. The game’s characters and play would be a great fit in the Nintendo world, and the touch-screen gameplay would lend itself well to the Wii U’s unique controller. But most importantly, I’ve felt really touched at how enthusiastic and appreciative these loyal fans have been to reach out, to talk about how much those games meant to them, and remind me of some of the most inspiring and influential times of my career. Guys and gals, this one’s for you: We’ve added Wii U eShop support as an official Stretch Goal, at the $55,000 funding mark!
Getting to that mark may be difficult. Only $14,000 has been raised out of the desired $40,000 total, and only a week remains for fundraising.
But hey, now that Nintendo fans are aware that Buddy & Me has a strong shot of heading to the Wii U, perhaps we’ll see a big rise in contributions.
