Capcom’s Hironobu Takeshita, the producer of Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure, has strong interest in making a sequel.
Takeshita was quizzed about the possibility of a follow-up in an interview with Nintendo Power. Additionally, he was asked if there has been any consideration as to how a second game would play like on the 3DS.
Takeshita told the magazine:
“I have a great deal of interest in doing a sequel. It’s one of several IPs that I want to return to. As for Nintendo 3DS…it would be fun if people could play and solve puzzles together.”
Zack & Wiki was a critical hit, but it was not a financially successful game for Capcom. As a result, the company has been hesitant to revisit the IP.

Nintendo hasn’t shared any details about the Wii U’s launch titles yet. We know about some of the games that should be available on release day – such as Darksiders II – but on the whole, fans have been kept in the dark.
Even with the limited information, if GameTrailers.com editor-in-chief Shane Satterfield is to be believed, prospective Wii U owners have nothing to worry about.
Speaking on the latest episode of the site’s “Invisible Walls” show, Satterfield teased the Wii U’s launch line-up by stating that it “is going to surprise some people. It’s going to be pretty damn good.”
He said:
“I will say one thing that I can say without getting in any trouble is that the launch lineup for the Wii U is going to surprise some people. It’s going to be pretty damn good.”
Satterfield presumably has some insight as to what’s in store for Wii U due to his access to insider contacts and developers.
REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo fans will have no shortage of reasons to celebrate this year, thanks to a wealth of upcoming games and content for both the Nintendo 3DS hand-held system and the Wii console. Nintendo today revealed plans to launch New Super Mario Bros. 2, a new side-scrolling Mario adventure for Nintendo 3DS, this summer. Later in the year, Nintendo will mark the 20th anniversary of the Kirby game series with a special compilation game disc for the Wii system. Other content on the way includes a system update for Nintendo 3DS, re-runs of the popular Kid Icarus anime videos as well as the May 20 launch of Mario Tennis Open.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a traditional side-scrolling adventure game featuring Mario, Luigi and loads of other favorite characters from the popular Mario series. The game was created specifically as a pick-up-and-play experience that can be instantly enjoyed by players of all skill levels on the Nintendo 3DS system. The game will launch across North America in August.
