Although the 3DS hasn’t even been out in Japan for one full week, Nintendo has already released an update for the system. Firmware “1.1.0-1J” is now available for download. Here’s a rundown about what the update provides:
– General system stability update
– Update to SpotPass: expansion of data retrieval for things like the notice list
– Bug fix for Network functionality: the system had previously been unable to receive data from some hot spots and Nintendo Zones.
– Addition of Music Live 3D Video: Adds Super Mario Bros. theme featuring Koji Kondo on piano.

So… there’s a pretty important event tomorrow. At 12 PM EST (9 AM PST), Satoru Iwata will deliver a keynote at the Game Developers Conference. Iwata last made an appearance in 2009, when he brought goodies such as an announcement for The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Some people are naturally speculating that we’ll see a new Skyward Sword or Ocarina of Time 3D trailer based on Zelda’s previous appearances at GDC…
I’m not quite sure what to expect given the fact that GDC is arguably less announcement-heavy than in the past, though I think we’ll see a couple of interesting things! Just keep expectations low… that’s always the best policy! Remember, this isn’t anything like E3.
In any case, Nintendo feels that this event is important enough for a live stream. You can access it right here. I’ll have another update before Iwata’s keynote begins tomorrow, but I you might want to start checking in on the site starting at 11:30 AM EST.
