Now that the latest Media Create hardware sales data has been reported, the complete totals for February have been calculated.  Here’s how things played out last month (2/1 – 2/28):

PSP – 152,590
Wii – 141,543
PS3 – 110,694
DSi LL – 104,659
DSi – 68,164
DS Lite – 21,151

Xbox 360 – 11,062
PS2 – 7,711
PSP go – 5,799

As many of you know, Madworld is not a Wii game that sold very well, and when it comes down to it, I just do not know why. Maybe it was the over the top violence, maybe it was the graphical style; either way, it’s a very fun game that is worth playing, and after the official price dropped to just $20, I was sure that no one would pass it up. Well, apparently people have passed it up because the price on Newegg.com has dropped to just $10, with free shipping. I usually don’t push my agenda on anyone, but I would highly recommend picking this game up for this price. Even if you hate it, it was only $10, so you really can’t go wrong.

“I would have loved to have started making small games. When I was younger I was thinking, how come the team has to be so big to make one game? So it’s really good to have a small team and people can put forward their own ideas into the game. It’s like for a music artist, they can just put out their single right away, not wait to do the full album. It’s like that, so it’s a really helpful industry. I’m jealous actually.” – Goichi Suda

I can definitely see where he’s coming from with this one. If you’re a small developer, you have a lot more freedom to do what you want without the hassle of having to deal with publishers.

I’ve heard a few stories about people getting heckled by Gamestop to pre-order Monster Hunter Tri in order to receive the demo, and even I was tricked into putting down a deposit on the title! While it isn’t a huge deal, because I will definitely be keeping that pre-order down, it’s worthwhile to post this and clear up some information: You do NOT need to pre-order the game to receive the demo. According to Capcom’s official blog, the demo should be available at no cost to you, so feel free to run into your local Gamestop and steal a copy! Of course, Valay informed me that even when he made it very clear to the employees of his Gamestop that Capcom said the demo should be free, they wouldn’t give him a copy without a pre-order, so be prepared for a bit of a struggle! Or just be real sneaky-like…

This comes from a recent interview with VideoGamer:

“[After being asked if he would like to put the games onto DSiWare] Good idea! I want to do that! If you play it, each type of job you can really enjoy. They’re not just a part of a side mission. Each game itself is of a really good quality, in fact.” – Goichi Suda

Would you guys purchase the job mini-games if they went to DSiWare?

March 4, 2010 – Burlingame, Calif. – Natsume, a worldwide developer and publisher of family-oriented video games, announced today that Squishy Tank for the Nintendo DS has gone gold. Natsume has also released new gameplay footage for the game, which will retail for an MSRP of $19.99 and is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.

SAN FRANCISCO – March 4, 2010 – Today Ubisoft announces the creation of Shaun White Skateboarding, a video game in development with dual-sport professional athlete and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Shaun White. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Shaun White Skateboarding will arrive this holiday 2010.

As the first skateboarding game in the best-selling Shaun White video game franchise, Shaun White Skateboarding will provide an innovative twist and fresh take on the skateboarding and action-sports genre.

“Certainly on the Wii, we are now in the fifth year. We have had extraordinary success. The PS2 went on to sell more than 50 million. So that means there is plenty of opportunity to sell more Wiis. That being said, going into the fifth year, you usually don’t anticipate selling more than you did in the previous year. Right now, we continue to see demand at very strong levels. It’s tough to find a Wii now. If we hit 100 stores in the area, we would find Wiis in only 20 percent of them today. That tremendous strength we had in December really wiped the pipeline clean. Our pipeline, [and] the retailer pipeline. And so, with that kind of demand, it doesn’t suggest the need for any pricing actions.” – Cammie Dunaway

I don’t know how much to believe her on this, especially when Nintendo has been known to deny rumors just days before they turn out to be true. Anyone think they might be serious this time?
