Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and MTV Games today revealed that LEGO® Rock Band™ will feature the likeness of David Bowie, pop music icon and best-selling music artist, as a LEGO minifigure. Fans can play as Bowie while singing his song “Let’s Dance,” which will be included in the play list.

LEGO Rock Band puts the power of Rock into the hands of tweens, teens, families and gamers of all ages as they go on a wild journey to rock stardom to “Build a Band and Rock the Universe.” Developed by TT Games in partnership with Harmonix, for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™ home videogame console. LEGO Rock Band for Nintendo DS™ is co-developed by TT Games and Harmonix in partnership with Backbone Entertainment, a Foundation 9 Entertainment studio. All versions are scheduled for release holiday 2009.

“The consumer response has been very strong to the price reduction. There are literally millions of consumers out there who want a Wii and had been on the sidelines. They’d been waiting for that little nudge to go out and pick it up – the price decline, the sampling, the launching of key software like Wii Fit Plus – we believe it’s what’s pushing them over the edge to get into the category.”

Naturally, Reggie wouldn’t share any sales figures, although he does indeed seem pleased. I’m actually a little more interested in how the Japanese market will respond the price cut since the console has been in quite a slump over the last few weeks. If I remember correctly, the DS Lite recently outsold the Wii according to Media Create data.

Square Enix seemed to be hinting that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers would not make it out this year in Europe. The company has already confirmed that the title will launch this December in North America. The Crystal Bearers will in fact be out next year in Europe, but it won’t be too long after the game releases elsewhere. European players will be able to purchase the title sometime in February 2010. There hasn’t been a specific release date announced, but I’m sure there will be as February approaches.

The last time we heard about Red Steel’s 2 release date, Ubisoft announced that the title had been delayed. The game is now on track to ship sometime in the third fiscal quarter. However, the Red Steel 2 team has a more specific time frame in mind. Creative Director Jason Vandenberghe stated in a recent interview that gamers can expect the title to be available sometime around March and also elaborated on the reason why Red Steel 2 was delayed.

“You can look for Red Steel 2 somewhere around…Middle end of February, early March, something in there. We don’t have an exact date but we’re shooting for it being done around that timeframe. We got an extension outside of Christmas, which was something the team asked for and we’re really glad that we got it because it means we have the time to do what we’re doing now, which is polish the difficulty ramp across the whole game so that it’s not just cool at the beginning and then no good for the rest of it. And also, work on combining all of our pieces together, making the finish moves and the enemies all work together. So we’re using that time to good effort. So hopefully all will go well with that and I think it will.”
