Update: The information has been confirmed and we’ve added some details to this post.
One thing we know for sure about Zelda Wii is that it will be at this year’s E3. Eiji Aonuma previously said that he hoped the game would be at the event, but last week, Satoru Iwata said that the game will definitely be there, no questions asked. What hasn’t been clear, however, is if there will be a playable demo of the title.
Although, in the latest issue of Famitsu, Aonuma apparently told the magazine that the development team is preparing a demo for the event and that they are trying to release the game as soon as possible. This information hasn’t been confirmed, but if Nintendo truly intends to launch Zelda Wii this year, it would make sense for a demo to be available at E3.
Updated information below…
“I’d like to show something playable. We’ll work hard in order to get you playing it as soon as possible. We’ve progressed in development since last year. At present, the core areas have come into clear view. After actually making it compatible [with MotionPlus], it just feels so natural. Link’s sword and the controller that you’re holding become one. Of course [there will be gameplay that puts an emphasis on the ability to swing your sword freely].
– The game will be a Wii MotionPlus-exclusive title
– There may be some enemies in the game that, based on the way you fight them, will solve puzzles
– The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks almost was delayed to 2010, the staff thought early on they would need more time, but since Nintendo didn’t want Spirit Tracks and Zelda Wii to overlap, the team concentrated on releasing the game last year

10th Anniversary of NBA 2K franchise celebrates the new year with sales milestone
New York, NY – February 2, 2010 – 2K Sports announced today that the hugely popular and #1 selling basketball video game, NBA® 2K10, has sold over 2 million units worldwide, marking a phenomenal +60% increase in sales* over the same time period last year for NBA® 2K9. With the all-new My Player career mode and critically acclaimed NBA Today feature, NBA 2K10 continues to be the #1 rated NBA simulation** for the ninth consecutive year.
“We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished this year with NBA 2K10, and this milestone is another fantastic reason to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the NBA 2K franchise,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “We would like to thank all of our loyal fans for their dedicated support and look forward to the continued success of this title.”
Today, Atlus announced that their upcoming spiritual sequel to the Trauma Center series, Trauma Team, would be delayed from April 20 to May 18. It’s not a huge delay, but it could definitely off-put fans of the series that can’t wait to get their hands on it! In the meantime, Atlus also released a new trailer for the game which highlights the orthopedics in the game. That’s right, setting bones, fixing bones, gluing bones, breaking bones; It’s all here! Well, most of it…
This comes from a recent issue of Iwata Aska:
“I thought it was a tradition for working on a Zelda title for it to turn into a kind of exercise in suffering.” – Satoru Iwata
“I remember it was fun working on it (Link’s Awakening), and when it was over, I remember us talking to each other about how fun it was.” – Takashi Tezuka
“I’m certain it was a breakthrough element in the series. If we had proceeded from A Link to the Past straight to Ocarina of Time without Link’s Awakening in between, Ocarina would have been different.” – Eiji Aonuma
Well, that’s interesting to hear! I actually haven’t had the privilege of playing Link’s Awakening, but I’d definitely draw some major similarities between Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past! Maybe it’s about time I grabbed a copy…
