Bayonetta Origins soundtrack

Original (10/16): Today, PlatinumGames announced that Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will be receiving an official soundtrack release in Japan. It will be available on December 20, 2023.

Wave Master Entertainment is behind the soundtrack. Fans will be able to listen to 150 songs from the game across six different tracks. There’ll be production staff commentary as well, though that’ll only be published in Japanese. However, English and Japanese translations of the theme song lyrics will be included in addition to the original Celtic text. Art director Tomoko Nishii will also be responsible for the book binding.

How Bayonetta Origins came to be

In a recent interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, the team behind Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon shared insight into how the game came to be.

When the title was unveiled at The Game Awards last December, it was a surprise to many. It not only features a different look for the franchise, but a unique style of gameplay as well. Something that was also a surprise was how it was planned to launch just a few months after Bayonetta 3.

Bayonetta Bayonetta Origins release order

A new interview has revealed that PlatinumGames didn’t know whether Bayonetta 3 or Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon would be released first.

That comes in a recent interview with Famitsu. Several members of the development team weighed in, including Nintendo producers Makoto Okazaki and Koji Tanaka as well as PlatinumGames supervising director Hideki Kamiya.

Bayonetta Origins secret code Forbidden Tale

PlatinumGames has shared a secret code that immediately unlocks Forbidden Tale difficulty in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon.

Players typically need to beat the story once in order to access the mode. However, in a new video today, director Abebe Tinari showed how it can be accessed immediately – and it’s actually quite simple.

Bayonetta Origins review

System: Switch
Release Date: March 22, 2023
Developer: PlatinumGames
Publisher: Nintendo

With Bayonetta 3 having just released last October, it was unexpected, to say the least, when a new game in the form of Cereza and the Lost Demon was revealed so soon after. However, it was clear from the get-go that this wouldn’t be the typical experience fans have grown to know and love, and would instead delve into a more relaxed but still engaging tale of the character’s upbringing. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is a game that is surprising in more ways than one but is a pleasant gift to longtime fans of the franchise that gives Bayonetta a different, charming perspective with a gorgeous art direction and not once overstays its welcome. In some cases, despite being a spinoff, it could arguably be the best title the series has seen to date, and it’s a perfect place to jump into for those that have been hesitant to get acquainted with the Umbran Witch.

Bayonetta Origins future

Nintendo and PlatinumGames have both briefly commented on the future of Bayonetta in a recent interview.

Only a few months after the debut of Bayonetta 3 – which released five years after it was announced – the series just saw the launch of another title with Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. It sounds like we could be seeing this sort of thing in the future – especially if series creator and Bayonetta Origins writer Hideki Kamiya has his way.

Bayonetta Origins theme song recording

Nintendo is giving Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon fans a behind the scenes look with a recording video for the theme song. This is Le Chéile i bhForaois Sholas na Gealaí, otherwise known as Together in the Moonlit Forest.

The performance comes from Lauren McGlynn. Hitomi Kurokawa at PlatinumGames handled the music while Michael McGlynn wrote the lyrics. The recording took place at Abbey Road Studios.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon reviews

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will be launching worldwide in just a few days, but some early reviews are now starting to come online.

This Switch exclusive is quite different from previous entries in the series. Whereas the franchise has been known for its hardcore third-person action, PlatinumGames is mixing things up with more of a top-down perspective in which players control both Cereza and Cheshire simultaneously. The title also serves as a prequel to the main trilogy.

Here’s a roundup of initial reviews for Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon:

Bayonetta Origins demo

Ahead of launch, a demo for Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon has been released. This can be downloaded in all major regions right now.

The demo contains the first two chapters from the game. Additionally, players can transfer their save data over to the full release.

Bayonetta Origins pre-order bonus

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is only a couple of months away, and with that in mind we’re starting to hear about pre-order bonuses for the game. We’ll keep this post updated as information on that front is shared in the coming weeks.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon comes just a few months after Bayonetta 3. This title is taking an entirely different approach for the series, however. As the name implies, this is more of an origin story in which players go on a journey to save Cereza’s mother. It has a more colorful, storybook-inspired look with a focus on exploration, combat, and puzzle solving.
