Masahiro Sakurai

Masahiro Sakurai has shared another new screenshot from Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, in which he provides an update on the Nintendogs stage “Living Room”. Check it out below:

Unsurprisingly we’re getting a look at one of the newcomers today, Sakurai shares some info on Robin:

Talking a bit more about Robin’s tomes:

The way Robin launches Arcfire is kind of crazy—he or she calls down a bolt of flame from above, then launches a pillar of fire! By the way, Robin’s tome changes with each special attack.

Check out the latest Super Smash Bros. for Wii U screenshots below:

Pic of the day. Along with Robin, Lucina joins the battle!! Her physical ablilites are identical to Marth’s–it must be in her D.N.A. However, where Marth’s power is concentrated in the tip of the sword, Lucina’s attack strength is balanced throughout the weapon, which might make her easier to control. She’s also a little bit shorter than Marth.

With the Wii Fit Trainers, the male and female Robins, the Villagers, and Little Mac, varying their appearances and voices works just like selecting alternate color variations. However, whenever there is even a small difference in abilities, that character gets an actual roster slot. That is why you can select Lucina individually.

By the way…there’s probably no chance you’ll be able to see this in the game, but Lucina has the mark of Naga in her left eye.

I’m sure today’s screenshot is going to open up all sorts of speculation, Sakurai explains the latest third party inclusion:

Masahiro Sakurai has posted a Miiverse message that covers Monday’s Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS character reveal.

According to Sakurai, the announcement will be streamed live. He also mentioned, “Looks like we’re nearing the bottom of the stash of new challenger videos that we’ve made.”

Here’s Sakurai’s post in full:

The Super Smash Bros. series has got throwbacks to the classics littered literally everywhere throughout the game, but Sakurai takes us even further back in time with today’s screenshots:

And that’s not all:

See? There’s a variety of characters. Huh? One of them looks pretty recent.

Alternate costumes anyone? Today Sakurai shows off some unexpected alternates for some Nintendo mainstays!

Today’s screenshot features Mii Quest’s Dark Emporer once again, as Sakurai explains a cool tie-in to the 3DS software:

Palutena gets the spotlight twice today as Sakurai shows off her huge up-smash attack:

I talked about an attack with a far reach in yesterday’s post, but it didn’t compare to Palutena’s up smash attack! No joke, it reaches really far. It reached so far in this shot that even the rocketbarrels got blown up.

However, it appears it’s not without drawbacks:

That said, if we’re talking just about range, even that can’t beat Palutena’s power, Heavenly Light. It has quite a damage field. However, this is a no-flinch attack, which means the opponents won’t react to the damage!

Today’s screenshot features the Mii Gunner once again, as Sakurai explains one of the possible attacks available to Mii fighters:

The Mii Gunner’s side smash attack may have the farthest reach of all the side smashes…as should be expected from a firearms expert!! Looks like the attack missed this time, though.
