Yasunori Mitsuda is the lead composer on Xenoblade Chronicles 2. On his personal Facebook page this week, he provided a status update on the music.
Recording for Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s music appears to be pretty much complete. It was worked on by 150 people (note: in case this isn’t clear, this is just the musicians), the largest production Mitsuda has been involved with. The mixing process for music began this week.

Project X Zone 2 director Soichiro Morizumi announced his departure from Monolith Soft a couple of days ago. Joining him is Koji Ishitani, who acted as the series’ co-producer.
Ishitani wrote on Twitter, as translated by Gematsu:
“As of the end of last week, on March 31, I resigned from Monolith Soft, which I belonged to for about 16 years. I was involved with works from Xenosaga Episode I to Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean to Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED to Project X Zone 2, but to everyone who supported me and worked with me, and above all else to those who played the games, thank you very much!”

Soichiro Morizumi is no longer with Monolith Soft. Morizumi, who directed both Project X Zone games on 3DS, confirmed the news about his resignation on Twitter.
Gematsu has the following translation of his tweets:
“I have resigned from Monolith Soft as of today, March 31. Thank you so much for looking after me for 14 years! I have been able to successfully complete games from Namco x Capcom to Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED to Project X Zone. I’m very grateful to have worked with all of the companies involved. I’m planning to remain in the games industry, so let’s meet again in the next game… someday.”
“And by the way, it was an amicable resignation. As for how amicable, it was as amicable as when I resigned from Banpresto lol. Since I was at Banpresto for seven years, and Monolith Soft for 14 years, is this some sort of cause and effect? If my next one is 21 years, I’ll be of exact retirement age (65 years old).”
Soichiro Morizumi’s work at Bandai Namco was primarily limited to Bandai Namco games. Aside from the Project X Zone series, he contributed to Namco x Capcom and the Super Robot titles as mentioned in his tweets.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 seems like it’ll have a bunch of music
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 27 Comments
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 composer Yasunori Mitsuda posted a blog update about the game’s music yesterday. It certainly seems like the RPG will have a ton of tunes to listen to.
There are five composers working on Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and it is Mitsuda who has to write all of the music scores. Given the amount of music involved, he might have to avoid doing part-time jobs in order to make it in time.

8-4 not working on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 localization
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 68 Comments
8-4 worked on the English version of Xenoblade Chronicles X. But for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, announced during last month’s Switch presentation, the localization company is not involved. Co-founder John Ricciardi confirmed that 8-4 isn’t handling the Japanese translation in a Twitter message last month.
Nintendo currently intends to have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ready sometime in 2017. That includes North America and Europe as well, though some have doubts about it launching in the west this year.
Thanks to Jake for the tip.

Soraya Saga, the wife of Monolith Soft founder Tetsuya Takahashi, has retweeted the news about next week’s Nintendo Switch Presentation and related events. It could be a sign that the rumored Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch port or new project could be shown at the event.
Saga’s done this a few times in the past. After she retweeted Nintendo Direct news in both 2013 and 2014, Xenoblade Chronicles X was featured in both broadcasts. Here’s hoping that this latest retweet will result in something tangible as well.

A new teaser website and Twitter account are now open for Monolith Soft’s Kyoto studio. The page has the following tagline: “Become a creator of captivating dreams in Kyoto”. In early July, the full site will open.
It should be noted that Monolith Soft Kyoto is the development studio that often helps Nintendo develop games. They are separate from the Tokyo team, which creates original titles like Xenoblade Chronicles X. The Kyoto group is currently working on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Update (6/24): Nintendo reached out to Game Informer to clarify their story. It’s not 100 employees from Monolith Soft working on the game – just confirmed to be 100 from Nintendo in general.
Original (6/17): We already knew that Xenoblade Chronicles developer Monolith Soft was involved with Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but now we have further confirmation of that. Shigeru Miyamoto told Game Informer that more than 100 staffers from the company are working on the project.
He said:
“Yes they are involved in this Zelda. People from Tokyo and Kyoto are working together on this. There is a team of over 100 [from Monolith] helping work on this project, and their work has really been helpful.”
