April 2015 NPD: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D sold under 75,000 copies
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in New Nintendo 3DS, News | 17 Comments
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D debuted on the New 3DS last month as the system’s first “exclusive” game. How did it perform on the market?
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D didn’t make the top ten NPD chart, but Nintendo said it was the fifth best-selling game in the U.S. during April if you do not combine sales for platforms. Thanks to “creamsugar”, who often leaks sales data, it’s also now known that the game sold under 75,000 copies.
All things considered, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D sold fine. The New 3DS has a very small userbase, and Xenoblade is more of a niche game. It’s also a port of a game that’s a few years old.
Thanks to Jake for the tip.

Nintendo did not distribute a response to the April 2015 NPD data yesterday, though the company did share a few figures with GamesBeat. The site was told that, though the first four months of the year, Wii U hardware sales are up 15 percent compared to the same period in 2014.
Unfortunately, that still doesn’t tell us much. But thanks to a chart shared by creamsugar – a person known for leaking NPD data – it’s looking like Wii U sold approximately 43,000 units in the U.S. last month.
Here’s a rough breakdown of the chart pictured above (note: Wii U takes up the position of 10.60 percent share):
Xbox One = 187,000 units
PS4 = 174,730 units
Wii U = 42,890 units

The March 2015 NPD results were reported on Thursday. Nintendo neglected to share hardware sales, but we do have a couple of very close estimates. The family of 3DS systems sold roughly 260,000 – 270,000 units while Wii U moved about 80,000 – 85,000 units.
Aside from hardware sales, we have data for two 3DS titles that debuted in North America last month. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. sold just 31,000 units, based on a figure provided by reliable NPD leaker “creamsugar”. Fossil Fighters: Frontier also launched last month and managed to sell roughly 35,000 copies.
That’s not all on the NPD front, as cremsugar shared a few lifetime U.S. sales figures for Wii U titles as well. Those are as follows:
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker – roughly 326,000 units
ZombiU – roughly 204,000 units
Bayonetta 2 – roughly 157,000 units
The Wonderful 101 – roughly 104,000 units

March 2015 NPD: Nintendo’s response – hardware sales up nearly 60% this year
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS, News, Wii U | 3 Comments
We’re still waiting on the March 2015 NPD chart, but Nintendo has already delivered its response for the month.
Several statistics were highlighted in the new press release. According to the company, sales for Nintendo hardware systems thus far in 2015 “have increased by nearly 60 percent over sales during the same time frame in 2014.”
Other than that, we know that Mario Party 10 sold close to 290,000 copies in its first two weeks on the U.S. market, cumulative Smash Bros. Wii U and Mario Kart 8 sales are at 1.6 million and 1.9 million units respectively, and more.
Head past the break for today’s full announcement and sales data.
February 2015 NPD: Wii U sales just under 100,000 units
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 14 Comments
Nintendo said in its NPD response earlier this week that thus far in 2015, Wii U hardware sales are up by more than 20 percent over sales in the same period last year. But how many units were actually moved in the U.S. last month? It’s currently estimated that sales fell somewhere between 94,000 and 96,000 units or so.
That’s a bit better than January, in which Wii U sales came in at around 64,000 units. It’s also slightly higher than last February’s figure of 82,500 units.
February 2015 NPD: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse sells 52,000 copies
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 9 Comments
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse’s debut sales in the U.S. are in. Last month, the game sold 52,000 copies, according to reliable NPD leaker “creamsugar”. It should be noted that because Kirby and the Rainbow Curse launched towards the end of February, that figure only accounts for about a week of sales.
The only other piece of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse sales data comes from Japan. First week sales for the game (as revealed by Media Create a few weeks ago) came in at 32,000 units. Total units sold should be at around 60,000 units at this point.
