About a year ago, PlayEveryWare published Elliot Quest on Wii U eShop. The company then announced last July that the game, which was well-received by players and critics, would be ported to additional platforms, including 3DS.

We recently caught up with PlayEveryWare’s Thomas O’Connor for a status update on the portable version and to reflect on the experience of bringing the game to Wii U. O’Connor also spoke about a couple of other projects that have kept the company busy.

Head past the break for our full Elliot Quest-focused interview.

Olympia Rising is coming to Nintendo’s console courtesy of Elliot Quest Wii U developer PlayEveryWare, the studio’s Thomas O’Connor has revealed to Nintendo Everything. The company partnered with creator Paleozoic Games to port and publish on the eShop. It should be available “in all regions” sometime in April.

Originally released last year, Olympia Rising is a 2D action-platformer featuring the young warrior Iola. After meeting an untimely end, she’s found herself in the Underworld. Iola can use a jumping and attack mechanic to take down enemies and help climb the Underworld with great maneuverability.

Here’s a trailer for Olympic Rising:

PlayEveryWare has also told Nintendo Everything that the match-3 puzzle title Jewel Quest is coming to Wii U. While PlayEveryWare worked on the port, iWin will be publishing. O’Connor anticipates that a release date will be shared “very soon.”

The next Elliot Quest update will launch on Tuesday, PlayEveryWare confirmed on Miiverse. This is version 1.2.6 that was announced last week.

As a reminder, Elliot Quest’s latest patch fixes more issues and unlocks some Miiverse stamps based on your save data.

Here’s the official news from PlayEveryWare:

Another update is coming soon to Elliot Quest. Version 1.2.6 could be out next week, so long as Nintendo approves it.

This new Elliot Quest update will address more bugs. Additionally, it will unlock some Miiverse stamps based on save data.

PlayEveryWare posted the following news on Miiverse:

In a separate post, the company added the following:

I also want to thank all of Miiverse community for being patient and understanding, while sharing with us the issues that are surely frustrating you.

What happened was that we made a whole bunch of performance optimizations alongside our Miiverse Journal feature update. Unfortunately one of the optimizations had some unintended, but serious consequences. We also wanted to address the feedback we were getting about players wanting to have Stamps unlocked based on their save data. Along with fixing bugs that were my fault, I really want to be sure we are adding in features that you the community find important!

We really hope this will be the final update for Elliot Quest on Wii U, but of course we will continue to support the game by watching Miiverse and elsewhere to see if players find any further issues or have any additional feature requests for the game!

Elliot Quest’s latest patch is now available. PlayEveryWare released version 1.2.4, which addresses the Desert area bug. This issue made it impossible to progress further in the game.

PlayEveryWare passed along the news about Elliot Quest’s new update through Miiverse:

Elliot Quest just recently received a patch that adds elements like the Miiverse Journal and the ability to change the control scheme. Unfortunately, however, it also brought about a major issue. After applying the latest update, players are unable to progress past the Desert area.

A fix has already been submitted to Nintendo, which is tentatively scheduled for release on August 19. PlayEveryWare apologized for the inconvenience caused in an official Miiverse post.

PlayEveryWare has made a couple of big announcements pertaining to Elliot Quest.

First, the game’s next big update is due out on July 30. This will add the Miiverse Journal and Miiverse Stamps. PlayEveryWare will be celebrating the new update with a 15 percent discount in North America and Europe for two weeks following the release of the update.

Also revealed today is that Elliot Quest is coming to 3DS. We don’t have an exact date, but it should arrive sometime in 2016.
