Princess Peach Showtime review

System: Switch
Release date: March 22, 2024
Developer: Good Feel
Publisher: Nintendo

I’m not sure if Princess Peach has a rivalry with Kirby or something, but she’s picked up a shocking amount of skills in the nineteen years since her last solo game. In short order, Princess Peach: Showtime tasks the Mushroom Kingdom’s longstanding ruler with displaying all sorts of feats of talent, from figure skating to baking to lasso-wrangling – well, either that or she’s apparently a really good actress. Peach’s second-ever starring role is an approachable, varied, fast-paced adventure with plenty of memorable moments, and while it didn’t exactly leave me hoping for an encore, it’s refreshing playing a modern Mario-verse game that shines the spotlight on someone other than the plumber himself.

Princess Peach: Showtime has just landed on Switch, and we have tons of gameplay from the final build. Footage starts from the beginning, going through the first two floors of the Sparkle Theater.

Here’s an official overview from Nintendo outlining the experience:

Missions tied to the new Switch title are now appearing. Players can complete them to earn in-game statues of Peach transformed into her ensembles. If you complete three missions, you’ll get the Patisserie Peach Statue. Finishing six nets you the Swordfighter Peach Statue. Finally, at nine missions, you’ll receive the Peach & Stella Statue. All of these are brand new items in Super Mario Run.

Princess Peach: Showtime reviews roundup

Nintendo has lifted the embargo on Princess Peach: Showtime, and first reviews are now starting to emerge.

Princess Peach: Showtime marks the first standalone game for the character since Super Princess Peach, a DS release that came out in 2005. The hook here is that Peach can take on different transformations to change up the gameplay. Figure Skater Peach, Dashing Thief Peach, Mermaid Peach, Cowgirl Peach, Swordfighter Peach, Patissiere Peach, Kung Fu Peach, Detective Peach, and Ninja Peach make up the lineup.

Princess Peach Showtime developer Good Feel

March 6: Wondering who’s the developer behind Princess Peach: Showtime? That responsibility seems to fallen to Good-Feel.

Princess Peach: Showtime received a demo just a short while ago, and unsurprisingly, some fans are digging through the contents behind-the-scenes. A codename has been discovered, which is PJ037. That matches up with other codenames Good-Feel has been associated with.
