Splatoon 3 Splatfest instrument

February 29: Nintendo has announced the latest Splatfest for Splatoon 3, which will carry a musical theme. Players will be asked to choose between three instruments that they’d prefer to play: drums, guitar, or keyboard.

The new Splatfest will kick off on March 22 in North America / March 23 in Europe. It will last until March 24 / March 25. As usual, we’ll share the results shortly after.

How to beat Horrorboros Splatoon 3

A while back, we published a guide on how to beat Megalodontia in Splatoon 3 and it’s time to talk about the other King Salmonids – particularly, how to defeat Horrorboros in Splatoon 3’s Salmon Run mode.

Horrorboros is perhaps the easiest King Salmonid to defeat of the three currently available in the game. Unlike Cohozuna and Megalodontia, Horrorboros is a flying enemy that attacks from above. It opens its mouth and starts blowing up a green balloon that looks like one you’d see on a Steelhead enemy. Once the balloon is blown up, it will unleash a Booyah Bomb on the ground that inks and damages everything in its path. Fortunately, the attack itself is incredibly telegraphed and easy to avoid – it’s taking down Horrorboros itself that can sometimes be a little tricky. If you’re looking to take down this King Salmonid, then let’s get right into our Horrorboros guide.

Another new Splatoon 3 update is rolling out, bringing the game to version 7.1.0.

The main focus here is the addition of a new song for the upcoming Splatfest. The song in question should be Suffer No Fools, which was shown off in a video earlier today. Some slight changes to Salmon Run and additional bug fixes will also be implemented. Players can expect the next update to be announced in mid-April, focusing on changes to battles.

Here’s the full rundown of the patch notes:

November 30 (2022): Nintendo Switch Online previously offered users icons for Splatoon 3, but the game is now a featured title once again. There’ll be five sets that rotate weekly on every Wednesday until January 9, 2023.

As usual, there are characters, backgrounds, and frames to choose from. Each one costs 5 or 10 Platinum Points as earned through My Nintendo. Once you’ve claimed an icon, it’s yours to claim forever – even if your subscription to Nintendo Switch Online expires.

Side Order 100 percent

If you’re willing to put in several hours for Splatoon 3’s new Side Order DLC, it’s possible to 100 percent complete the mode – and we’ve put together a full list of criteria. Be warned, however – while fully beating Side Order isn’t terribly difficult, it does rely on RNG somewhat. If that’s okay with you, then let’s get right into our Side Order 100 percent completion guide.

eight's palette Side Order Splatoon 3

Today, we’re going over some tips and tricks to clear Eight’s Palette with low hacks in Splatoon 3’s Side Order DLC.

Splatoon 3’s Side Order DLC has been available for a little while now, and many players are beginning its most challenging feat: clearing the Spire of Order with Eight’s Palette. After you clear the Spire with every other Palette, you’ll receive Agent 8’s Palette – an Octo Shot Replica with a Splat Bomb sub and Triple Splashdown special. There’s one key difference that only applies to Eight’s Palette, though. Unlike other Palettes, Eight’s loses Color Chip slots if you have many of Marina’s hacks active. In other words, if you have hacks active, you will only be able to equip a few Color Chips in the Spire of Order. And if you clear the Spire with four active hacks or less, you receive a special Badge for your profile. We’ll also be discussing techniques for the final boss, so you might want to bookmark this page for later if you’re looking to avoid spoilers.

Splatoon 3 Fresh Season 2024

February 13: Nintendo has provided a first look at Splatoon 3 Fresh Season 2024, which starts in the game on March 1.

A bunch of new content is being added to the game at no extra cost. There’ll be new multiplayer stages, such as the Marlin Airport battle stage and the Bonerattle Arena Salmon Run stage. Players can also expect new weapons like brella and dualies variants and additional new items like the Fizzbang that can be used during Splatfests.

Here’s a trailer for Splatoon 3 Fresh Season 2024:

We wrote a guide that includes some general tips and tricks for Side Order, and you can check that out here. ability chunks Splatoon 3

Today, we’re going over what Ability Chunks are in Splatoon 3, what each one does, and how you can use them on your gear to best effect.

Ability Chunks are a returning mechanic in Splatoon 3 that let you change up your gear with special bonuses and effects. Each piece of headgear, clothing, and shoes can have one primary ability and three secondary abilities. To unlock all three slots on a piece of gear, you’ll need to either purchase an upgrade in the shop with in-game currency or use Super Sea Snails (which are only obtained after participating in a Splatfest). It’s important to note that amiibo-exclusive gear is not present in the shops, so the only way to upgrade them at all is to use Super Sea Snails.
