Steel Empire Switch

Steel Empire, which landed on 3DS nearly a decade ago, is now seeing a release on Switch. Mebius has announced that it’s preparing a port of the side-scrolling shoot ’em up game for 2023.

Steel Empire actually saw its initial launch on the SEGA Genesis in 1992. It later ended up on the Game Boy Advance, 3DS, and then Steam. The Switch version should be based on the PC release, which was an updated version of the 3DS remake.

The USK recently revealed that Steel Empire is heading to the European 3DS eShop. Teyon has now made the news official by giving the title a December 17 release date today.

Steel Empire will be priced at €15.99 for launch. Teyon is also reducing its cost in North America to $15.99 between December 24 and January 7.

Other Teyon games going on sale during the period include:

Last July, Teyon published the fantastic side-scrolling shooter Steel Empire on the North American 3DS eShop. Well over a year later, the title finally appears to be coming to Europe.

The USK, Germany’s ratings board, recently added in an entry for Steel Empire. That would suggest a European release is coming soon. If we hear anything official from Teyon, we’ll let you know.

Teyon and Mebius are bringing Steel Empire to the Americas next Thursday, the two companies announced today. The shoot’em game will be available through the eShop for $29.99.

Below is an overview of Steel Empire straight from Teyon:

A listing on Teyon’s website confirms that the publisher is localizing Steel Empire for overseas territories. The game hasn’t received a release date yet, though it should be coming to North America and Europe sometime in the future.

You can find a few screenshots from Steel Empire above. An official overview is posted below.

Steel Empire won’t be a Japanese-only release. The game will make its way to the North American 3DS eShop, Starfish has confirmed. Hopefully there are plans to bring Steel Empire to Europe as well!
