Here’s the latest information on Super Mario Odyssey:

Nintendo recently invited select members of the media and other outlets to go hands-on with Super Mario Odyssey this week. With the Nintendo Direct taking place today, we’ll likely be seeing new previews around the time the presentation ends.

A couple of images have popped up early. Both seem to show the Seaside Kingdom, based on the collectible coins shown. We have the two photos below.

Best Buy has a pre-order bonus for Super Mario Odyssey. As mentioned previously, those who reserve the game will receive a collectible coin. We have a first look at the goodie, and it’s pictured above.

The main hook of Super Mario Odyssey is Mario’s ability to capture enemies. This is largely in part possible thanks to his new companion Cappy.

Mario may not be the only character in the game with a possessed head accessory. In new artwork included on the Super Mario Odyssey website, we’re able to see Peach with a crown that looks a whole lot like Cappy. It doesn’t seem like Cappy exactly since it has a slightly more feminine appearance. It’s a very close resemblance, however.

Mario can perform all sorts of moves in Super Mario Odyssey. In a new tweet posted on the official Twitter account, Nintendo shows one of these in action. We have a look at the “Hip Drop Jump” move below.

Hip Drop Jump lets you jump into the air after you’ve performed a Ground Pound. Doing so allows you to use momentum to rise higher than you normally can with a standard jump.

Nintendo’s regular news updates for Super Mario Odyssey continue on. On the game’s Japanese Twitter account, Nintendo showed off one of the new enemies you’ll see.

The screenshot above offers a look at Tomapon. These enemies are located in the Mount Volbono section of Luncheon Kingdom). When Mario steps on a Tomapon, its magma spreads, so you’ll need to watch out for these potentially dangerous enemies.
