Super Mario Party Jamboree 2.1.1 update

Heads up for Super Mario Party Jamboree players: a new version 2.1.1 update just went live. The patch can be downloaded on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.

The update addresses a single issue. Last week, due to some sort of glitch, Nintendo temporarily disabled uploading new records to the online leaderboards. Thankfully, after just under a week, that has now been addressed.

Here’s the full notice from Nintendo:

System: Switch 2
Release date: July 24, 2025
Developer: Nintendo Cube
Publisher: Nintendo

Back when I reviewed Super Mario Party Jamboree last year, I called it “biggest and best Mario Party game that Nintendo has made in a very long time. Beyond that, it’s probably my personal favorite in the series; whenever I have friends or family over and we decide to boot up a party game, there’s a very good chance Jamboree will be in the rotation. I was very open to the idea of an enhanced version of the game for the Switch 2, and one that takes advantage of the console’s new features such as mouse controls and the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera with some fresh modes and minigames. Unfortunately, an upgrade that should have been a slam dunk doesn’t bring enough new content or features to justify its own existence as a paid upgrade.

The big thing is that compatibility is now included with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. As part of that, there are some specific bugs that have been fixed for the new version, including one that was game-breaking.

The full patch notes are as follows:

May 28: A new trailer has just come in for Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. As of now it’s only available in Japanese, but typically an English version goes live later.

While we did previously see Super Mario Party Jamboree on Nintendo Switch, it’s now set for Switch 2 release later this year. New content and features are planned, many of which were revealed during a Nintendo Direct in April.

Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

After it was first discovered a few days ago, Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games are now confirmed. These will include things like new features, graphics updates, and more for Switch 1 titles. Everything will be offered physically and digitally. Upgrade packs are planned for Switch 1 owners.

One such game is Super Mario Party Jamboree, which will offer new elements such as new modes and minigames with support for mouse controls and the built-in mic along with Bowser Live, a game-show themed experience. The game launches on July 24, 2025.

Here’s a trailer:

Super Mario Run Super Mario Party Jamboree event

Super Mario Run has hosted a few new events throughout the year, and now players can get involved in another one featuring Super Mario Party Jamboree.

Similar to past events, players can get rewards by completing missions. There are Rainbow Galleria, Goomba Lagoon, and King’s Bowser’s Keep missions to complete. By doing everything, you can receive nine different rewards.

There’s another physical reward on My Nintendo in North America, this time for Super Mario Party Jamboree. Members can get their hands on a set of party coasters.

You’ll get eight different coasters here. Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Princess Daisy and Waluigi, Yoshi, Toad, and Kamek are on the designs. Each coaster is 4 and waterproof, so you can use them repeatedly in the future. The material is comprised of coated paperboard.
