Since the stage is paper, it transforms when it folds over and opens up again. This ship is the S.S. Flavion from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

An assist trophy today featuring Takamaru from Mysterious Murasame Castle. Sakurai talks a little bit about his… inclusion with this daily screenshot:

The bottom screen displays pictures matching each mode! This was quite a task for the UI (User Interface) designers, but they made it happen. Kudos to them! You can tap the screen to look up additional info like how to play–complete with diagrams.

Interestingly, Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is listed in the new Wario shelf. Might this mean that the character will be returning in the new Smash titles for Wii U/3DS?

Today Sakurai touches on some of the subtleties that have been implemented between versions in regards to some of the similar content they share:

I’m sure Smash Bros. veterans will recognise the focus of today’s screenshot, Sakurai perhaps teasing that the Star Fox staple will again make an appearance?

Another one of Robin’s moves is showcased in today’s screenshot, he’s shaping up to be quite the unique character:

The official Super Smash Bros. Facebook page is teasing “a few special surprises” for San Diego Comic-Con 2014.

The message reads:

This year’s Comic-Con will take place between July 24 and July 27. Nintendo will be streaming from the expo on July 25 and July 26.

One of the folks over on NeoGAF has translated an older Famitsu column from Masahiro Sakurai in which he discusses the inclusion of Little Mac in the new Super Smash Bros. He talked about his strong impression of Punch-Out!! before going into the character’s abilities and other elements.

Here’s the translation in full:
