A small update has just gone live for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo has released version 11.0.1, and it can be downloaded by all players.

According to Nintendo, the update only addresses a single issue. The patch notes state: “Vulnerability when landing after using the Wii Fit Trainer’s side special Header had decreased unintentionally, so this has been adjusted.”

And that’s it. While it may not be a big update by any means, it’s probably worth downloading. The next major version change will likely arrive when the latest DLC character is ready, which is likely at least a couple of months away given that Pyra/Mythra was just added this month.

Nintendo has announced a new tourney event for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This time around, the theme is all about Kirby. That means you’ll be encountering stages and items related to the series.

The new tournament goes live on March 26. Expect it to last three days in total.

Last week, Pyra/Mythra was added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the latest DLC character. The two-in-one fighter is the new representative from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 instead of Rex, who has the starring role.

You may recall that Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai talked about the decision to feature Pyra/Mythra over Rex a bit during a presentation from earlier in the month. In his latest column in Famitsu though, he went into a bit of extra detail about the thought process behind it all.

We’ve now gone ahead and prepared a complete translation of Sakurai’s piece from the Japanese magazine. Continue on below to read it in full.

Those that have save data for Persona 5 Strikers will receive a spirit for Sophia. For Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection, Arthur is the bonus.

Both of these spirits may appear for all players at a later date, though there’s no word on that just yet.

The new 11.0.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is largely intended to add data for the latest DLC featuring Pyra/Mythra and new Mii Fighter costumes. On top of that though, fighter adjustments have also been implemented.
