Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Believe it or not, the end is almost here for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While director Masahiro Sakurai has previously said that the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 would conclude DLC for the game, some were holding out hope that something would change. However, Sakurai and Nintendo are sticking to the original plan.

Sakurai reconfirmed during a broadcast for Kazuya today that “the next DLC fighter will be the last one.” He added, “There won’t be any more after that.”

Sakurai’s full words:

It turns out that we won’t be seeing the next amiibo for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate anytime soon. The next figure, Min Min, is slated for a 2022 release.

Nintendo still has plans to introduce amiibo for other DLC fighters in Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, there’s no word on release timing at present.

The wait for Kazuya in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is almost over. Players can purchase and use the DLC fighter on June 29, director Masahiro Sakurai has announced.

As a reminder, the DLC isn’t just Kazuya himself. You’ll also be getting a new Mishima Dojo stage from Tekken and 39 music tracks from the series.

Here’s a whole bunch of information about how Kazuya plays in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai is currently hosting a presentation to spotlight the game’s new DLC fighter. Though the broadcast has been almost entirely about Kazuya, the next wave of Mii Fighter costumes have also been revealed. The lineup includes Lloyd (Swordfighter) from Tales of Symphonia, Dragonborn (Swordfighter) from The Elder Scrolls, Dante (Swordfighter) from Devil May Cry, and Shantae (Brawler).

All of these Mii Fighter launch tomorrow, June 29. They’re priced at $0.75 each.

Here’s a trailer:

Kazuya from Tekken was revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct, and we’re now about to get a closer look at the fighter. Director Masahiro Sakurai will soon be kicking off a special 40-minute presentation with further information. We’ll also likely hear about the next wave of Mii Fighter costumes.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Mr. Sakurai Presents “Kazuya” begins at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3 PM in the UK / 4 PM in Europe. You can watch it as it happens below, and we’ll have coverage during and after the event.

Masahiro Sakurai

Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has still been publishing his bi-weekly columns in Famitsu, and we’re probably due for another one soon about Kazuya in Ultimate. In the meantime though, he’s been tackling some other subjects. One topic covered earlier this month is how making things simpler doesn’t necessarily mean easier when it comes to competitive games.
