Square Enix’s SaGa franchise has seen quite the return over the last few years. With almost as many entries as the mainline Final Fantasy games, the series has had a lot of time to define itself – resulting in a focus on non-linearity, exploration, and a unique take on character advancement and customization that in the modern age is still surprisingly addictive and proves that the SaGa renaissance is in full swing. Heading in to a game I first experienced on Switch when it was first ported to the west in 2017, I was incredibly excited to return to the world of Avalon in beautiful 3D with Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven.
Metal Slug Tactics release date set for November, new trailer

After a lengthy wait, Metal Slug Tactics now has a release date. It’s been revealed that the game launches for Switch and other platforms on November 5, 2024.
Metal Slug Tactics was announced for 2022 and was planned for that year. However, it was eventually delayed to 2023, and later, 2024. Now we know that the game is just a couple of weeks away.

If there’s one thing I don’t think we get enough of these days, it’s video game crossovers and character cameos. There’s something delightful in watching characters from different series interact with one another in “what if” scenarios. Despite being a deckbuilder, which is a far cry from the 2D action games they are better known for, Card-en-Ciel feels like a love letter to Inti Creates’ catalog of releases up to this point, and it delivers a surprisingly deep combat system that somehow manages to stay fresh despite the repetition and roguelike trappings that occasionally throw off the pacing.

UK software sales chart for the week ending October 19, 2024

The latest UK software sales chart has been released for the week ending October 19, 2024, revealing a strong debut for Super Mario Party Jamboree.
The game managed to take the top spot in its first week – and remember, that’s without digital data. Nintendo will also be happy to hear that physical sales were 35 percent more compared to Mario Party Superstars.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership developed by Acquire

The developer behind Mario & Luigi: Brothership has been revealed, which is Acquire.
Fans have long thought that ILCA could be the studio responsible for the Switch game. However, it turns out that the responsibility was left with Acquire. This is the first time that a Mario & Luigi game was not made by AlphaDream – that studio filed for bankruptcy a number of years ago.

Pokemon Rodeo details leaked

Details have leaked regarding an unreleased Pokemon game, which goes by the codename Rodeo. The project may or may not still be in development.
Pokemon Rodeo is an online co-op Pokemon battling game. The title revolves around riding and defeating rampaging creatures. One leaked image shows the ability to customize your Pokemon with paint marks.
Vampire Survivors reveals Castlevania DLC

Another Konami collaboration is coming to Vampire Survivors, and Poncle today unveiled Ode to Castlevania DLC. It’s launching on October 31, 2024.
The DLC is massive, featuring over 20 characters, more than 40 weapons, 30+ music tracks, and the biggest stage yet.

The official website for Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program was updated today, revealing details about the whole thing is actually about.
There’s been plenty of speculation as to what Nintendo has been planning. Various theories have been floating around, including GameCube support on Switch Online, a potential Miiverse return, and more. However, it turns out that Nintendo is testing out a new kind of game.

Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons may just be the most overlooked entry (or technically entries) in The Legend of Zelda series.
Echoes of Wisdom recently released, and it made history as Grezzo’s first fully-original core entry in the critically acclaimed series. It’s been created in the same style as the Link’s Awakening remake on Switch: chibi-style graphics with a vague dream-like quality. A completely new Zelda game is absolutely the best timeline, but today we’re here to talk about something different that could’ve happened instead: Link’s Awakening-style remakes of Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons.
