SteamWorld Build release date

Today, Thunderful and internal development studio The Station announced a final release date for SteamWorld Build. On Switch, it’ll be out on December 1, 2023.

SteamWorld Build originally announced in January. Thunderful confirmed a general 2023 launch window at the time.

Sonic Superstars Digital Deluxe Edition

SEGA has announced that Sonic Superstars is set to receive a Digital Deluxe Edition with some special goodies, including a Rabbit Skin.

For those that are unaware, this is going back to the earliest days of the character’s history. SEGA was originally toying around with the idea of using a rabbit – the character was only settled on a hedgehog later on. Naoto Ohshima, who is working on Sonic Superstars, came up with the initial rabbit design. But due to different factors such as wanting to focus on speed, featuring a hedgehog made more sense.

Sonic Superstars release date

A new trailer for Sonic Superstars just aired at Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2023, and it comes with the reveal of a final release date and more news about support for multiplayer. The title is due out for Switch on October 17, 2023.

Sonic Superstars was first announced this past June. Originally, SEGA shared a more vague fall launch window.

As previously announced, Sonic Superstars supports local co-op with up to four players. Also included is online with a free-for-all Battle Mode.

Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2023 live stream

Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2023 is kicking off soon, and we’ve got a live stream ready to go for the event. It’ll be starting up at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 7 PM in the UK / 8 PM in Europe. Note that a pre-show will air 30 minutes beforehand.

Don’t expect a ton of new announcements here, but we should be hearing about at least a couple of Switch games. Sonic Superstars and Mortal Kombat 11 have both been confirmed for the show. We’ll relay any important news as it happens.

New Xenoblade

According to Xenoblade Chronicles director Tetsuya Takahashi, assuming we see another entry in the series, it “will likely be something vastly different from what came before.”

A message from Takahashi was included in the recently-released Xenoblade Chronicles 3 soundtrack release. Xenomira has since provided a translation.

Switch update 16.1.0

Nintendo is back with a new firmware update for Switch, and version 16.1.0 is starting to go live for all users.

We’re in the twilight stage of the system’s lifecycle, so it may not come as much of a surprise that no new functionality has been added. Once again, Nintendo is highlighting stability improvements.

Here’s the official rundown:

Super Mario Bros Wonder Charles Martinet

Charles Martinet is not involved with Super Mario Bros. Wonder, according to an official statement shared by Nintendo.

Earlier today, the company announced that Martinet is stepping back from voicing characters in its games. As part of that, he’ll now be a “Mario Ambassador”.
