Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution, lost Shantae GBA game, finally releasing in 2024 [update: extended trailer]

July 12: WayForward has revealed that Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution, a game that was originally in development during the Game Boy Advance era, is finally seeing an official launch. It will be available on an actual GBA-compatible cartridge in early 2024, courtesy of Limited Run Games.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution was put on the shelf for nearly two decades. Now, however, the once-canceled title will be completed. Shantae creator Erin Bozon, series director Matt Bozon, and programmer Michael Stragey are using GBA-era development tools to authentically complete the handheld experience. There’ll be multiple chapters, numerous towns and labyrinths, six creature transformations, fierce bosses, and a soundtrack from Maddie Lim, plus a four-player battle mode.
Cat Quest 3 “Tavern Tales” update out now, patch notes

A brand new “Tavern Tales” update has just arrived in Cat Quest 3.
The update lets players to choose various tales from the in-game tavern, which are remixed boss battles with new modifiers that increase the difficulty. For instance, the Boar King battle now has meteorites rain down from the sky, and Captain Meowtallika’s concert now has various electrical pulses filling the screen. After completing each challenge, you’ll get a new companion, such as Beakon the fearless parrot who swoops down on enemies, dealing damage to all in its path. There’s also a secret encounter for those who finish everything.

Three years after its initial digital appearance, Aka is now receiving a physical release on Nintendo Switch. Super Rare Games is handling distribution.
3,000 copies will be available worldwide. Each unit includes a reversible cover, full-color manual, exclusive sticker, and trading cards.

December 9: Deck13 Spotlight and Umami Tiger today unveiled brand new DLC for Chained Echoes dubbed Ashes of Elrant. It will be available for Nintendo Switch in Q2 2025.
Ashes of Elrant features a new land and takes place before the original game’s final fight. As new character White Wolf, players will visit new areas, fight over 40 new monsters and bosses, and listen to 15 new tracks by Eddie Marianukroh.

Thanks to publisher Rainy Frog and developer Rainy Night Creations, we have the release date for Spy Drops. The Nintendo Switch launch is happening on July 31, 2025.
Spy Drops, a modern retro-styled stealth action game, was unveiled exactly a year ago. That original announcement didn’t include launch timing, but now we know it’s just a few weeks away.

Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition today was given a brand new “Backworms Compatible” update. This was previously teased late last year.
The update brings along Worms (SNES), Worms (SEGA Genesis) and Worms World Party (Game Boy Advance). Additionally, players can take advantage of the ‘Boggy B’ cheat code which unlocks all content – it’s toggleable in the options.
