Pikmin 3’s sales compared to series’ previous entries
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, News, Podcast Stories, Wii U | 5 Comments
Pikmin 3’s first week Japanese sales are in. How do they stack up to the previous games in the series? Let’s take a look:
(2001) Pikmin – First week: 90,000 (54.9%) | Total sales: 549,000
(2004) Pikmin 2 – First week: 160,000 (48.4%) | Total sales: 484,000
(2013) Pikmin 3 – First week: 92,720 (48.45%)
One important point to note here is that Pikmin 3’s sales were accounted for over a two day period, whereas Pikmin 2 saw four days of sales. We also have to take into account that there aren’t a whole lot of Wii U units out in consumers’ hands just yet.
Sakurai thought about bringing Smash Bros. to Nintendo handhelds previously

Even though Super Smash Bros. has been around since the N64 era, Nintendo is just now bringing the franchise to a portable. In addition to Wii U, a unique version of the series’ next entry will be released for the 3DS.
But has creator Masahiro Sakurai considered making Smash Bros. for a Nintendo handheld in the past? As it turns out, the answer is yes.
Sakurai told GamesTM this month that he “thought about it”, but “we purely didn’t have the opportunity, it just never came up.” He also explained that it may not have been possible to realize Smash Bros. on any Nintendo handheld before the GBA.
“It’s not that I haven’t wanted to – I thought about it, I did. To be honest, we purely didn’t have the opportunity, it just never came up. And also, to speak freely, if you look at a handheld device preceding anything before the GBA, I don’t know that it would have the capabilities to fully realize Smash Bros.”

Just as you would expect, fishing is back in Pokemon X/Y. The latest episode of Pokemon Smash showed the feature during a gameplay segment. Octillery was caught at one point, and later in the footage, the player went surfing on the Pokemon with a standard shadow. The video went on to show Inkay on an island.

I was really excited to tackle such a classic this week honestly! The glitch turned out to be somewhat fruitful, but it’s about the journey and not the conclusion, right!? Enjoy!
