Jaleco may have quietly closed its doors

Jaleco could be no more. Kotaku attempted to contact the company’s Tokyo office today, but there was no answer. A recording noted that the service was “no longer in service.” The blog of Jaleco president Takayasu Katou is also nowhere to be found online.
Game Yarou acquired Jaleco in 2009, though it continued to work on games. No website updates have been posted since 2011.
Jaleco delivered the promising but ultra-disappointing Kizuna for Wii. The company has been around since the early days of gaming with titles such as Bases Loaded for the NES.

Update 2: Pokemon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara and Game Freak director Junichi Masuda are attending.
Update: Kotaku editor Jason Schreier has a few more details. It’s a Pokemon X/Y presentation/Q&A. Time is set for 6 PM PT. Schreier also says that “Nintendo is doing a lot of different E3 events.”
Nintendo won’t be holding a typical press conference at this year’s E3, but the company has scheduled a number of different events for the show.
One happening appears to be a special Pokemon presentation. This will take place during the first night of E3 and will be 1.5 hours long, according to media reports.
Also during E3 are two different hands-on events: one for the media and one for analysts/other business folks. A Nintendo Direct broadcast will be live-streamed on June 11 as well.

Need for Speed: Rivals not heading to Wii U
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Earlier today, EA announced the next entry in the Need for Speed franchise – Need for Speed: Rivals. Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring the game to the Wii U at this time.
Ghost Games’ founder and Rivals producer Marcus Nilsson told Eurogamer that “Frostbite is not really set up for Wii U.” EA confirmed in its announcement that the racer is being built on the Frostbite 3 engine.
“Yeah, Frostbite is not really set up for Wii U. I don’t have all the information, so it wouldn’t be right for me to speak about it. Frostbite 3 is a really capable engine, it’s scalable and it gives us a big advantage on the next generation to support the Xbox One and the PS4, but it’s not being developed on the Wii U.”
A shame that we won’t be seeing this one on Wii U. You could argue that Most Wanted was best on Nintendo’s system last year out of all console versions, so it would have been nice to see how Rivals turned out.
