Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 producer David Cox has said time and time again that a Wii U version isn’t in the cards. However, we’ve never really seen any concrete reasons as to why it won’t be happening.

Cox was once again asked about Lords of Shadow 2 recently, but this time outlined reasons for the lack of a Wii U port.

It all comes down to resources. According to Cox, MercurySteam possesses “a limited amount of people working on the title.” He would anticipate needing to have an extra 20-30 staffers in order to complete a Wii U version. Development has also reached a certain point in which “it would be very hard for us to work on a Wii U version without negatively effecting the general development of the title.”

“The reason that we’re not making a Wii U version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is because of our resources. We have a limited amount of people working on the title. About 60 people worked on the first title and that’s a pretty small team. With the sequel we have slightly expanded that team, but in order to make a Wii U-version, we need about 20 to 30 extra people. Next to that, we’re already pretty far into the development of Lords of Shadow 2, so it would be very hard for us to work on a Wii U version without negatively effecting the general development of the title. That’s the only reason there won’t be a Wii U-version, it’s not that we don’t want to make it, it’s just that it wouldn’t make sense for us to do so right now.”

Project X Zone is now available for pre-order. Reserve the title at Amazon here or GameStop here.

Namco Bandai unexpectedly announced localization for Project X Zone last month. Due to the niche nature of the game and tremendous properties involved, no one was anticipating its release in either North America and Europe. Thankfully, Namco Bandai believed it was worth bringing over!

Star Wars Pinball content is coming to Pinball FX2, Zen Pinball, and Zen Pinball 2. Strangely, when Zen Studios announced the DLC, it made no mention of the Wii U eShop version.

No need to fret, though – it seems the Wii U will be getting some love after all.

When a fan made a remark about Star Wars Pinball for Wii U on Zen Studios’ blog, one staffer said: “The force is strong with Wii U”. The employee later replied to another Wii U comment, noting: “Details coming soon!”

It won’t be long now before we receive new information about Pokemon X/Y. The latest episode of Pokemon Smash confirmed that an update will be shared during next week’s show, and Japanese magazine CoroCoro will have details (and presumably new shots) as well. CoroCoro should leak out before Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled!

Each Magikarp comes with a Rare Candy. Flail, Hydro Pump, Bounce, and Splash moves are attached to the Pokemon.

A few days ago, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate producer David Cox made a few comments that seemed to leave the door open to a future re-release on new platforms.

First, Cox mentioned to CVG how the game’s assets were all initially produced in HD. He later told the site that an HD version for consoles could be considered, though didn’t indicate that anything was imminent.

Naturally, Cox’s comments spread and resulted in numerous rumors. In order to clarify his original statements, Cox took to Twitter and responded to fans:

Cox also flat-out denied a pair of rumors – one stating that an HD collection would be released on the Xbox 360 with Mirror of Fate, and another saying that the 3DS game will be heading to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

GungHo Online Entertainment recently announced that it has acquired the Suda51-led studio Grasshopper Manufacturer.

The move was a bit surprising. Grasshopper had always acted independently even though it did team up with companies in the past, and GungHo is more mobile-focused.

On the bright side, GungHo president Kazuki Morishita assured fans in an interview with 4Gamer that Grasshopper will “continue to make games in the manner they are accustomed to.”

“I’d like Suda-san to remain focused on Grasshopper rather than GungHo as a whole. Of course now I’ll be involved in Grasshopper’s creative output, but since Suda-san is there, in a lot of ways it actually equates to a taking load off my own work. Basically, I’d like Grasshopper Manufacture to continue to make games in the manner they are accustomed to.”

Remember that Zelda LEGO set idea that was never approved? Its denial was a bit of a sting, but the legendary video game franchise now has a second chance of getting the brick treatment.

“Ragaru” has come up with his own Zelda LEGO concept that seems to avoid the pitfalls in preventing the first idea’s approval. A total of 10,000 fans have pledged their support for the project, and it’s currently in the hands of the LEGO CUUSOO team.

Have a look at some concept art of the LEGO set in the gallery above. Here’s hoping it heads past the approval process!
