More Than 50 Fun Rhythm Games Challenge Players to Stay in the Groove

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Starting today, video game fans and music lovers across the United States can use the Wii™ system to keep the beat in dozens of entertaining new ways. The Rhythm Heaven™ Fever game is now available, inviting players to enjoy a fresh lineup of more than 50 unique rhythm games. Easy to pick up and play but challenging to master, each minigame tasks players to tap buttons on the Wii Remote™ controller in time to catchy musical themes while completing a variety of quirky tasks. Rhythm Heaven Fever carries a suggested retail price of $29.99 in the United States.

Rhythm Heaven Fever takes the action to the living room for big beat-keeping fun. By rhythmically pressing the A and B buttons on their controller in time with the music, players might find themselves playing golf with a monkey, swinging a samurai sword or building robots on an assembly line. No matter what the activity, the game’s infectious soundtrack will keep heads bobbing and faces smiling as players test their rhythmic skills.

Nintendo is advertising The Last Story in Europe – specifically Paris – by including Hironobu Sakaguchi on the promotional material. It seems that Sakaguchi’s face is plastered on various ads over at Fnac.

The Last Story director said on Twitter that it’s “slightly embarrassing”. Sakaguchi is a modest man!

You might be interested to hear that the concept for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy came well before the creation of the 3DS.

Producer Ichiro Hazama revealed in a new Japanese Iwata Asks interview that he had hoped to make the game for the DS following the completion of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. The system’s lack of power and storage limitations prevented Hazama from beginning development, however.

And that’s where the 3DS came in. Hazama knew that the handheld would be able bring his ideas to fruition. Once Hazama saw the 3DS, he quickly met up with Indies Zero, the studio behind the title, to finalize plans. Tetsuya Nomura approved of the project and the team was able to begin development on the same day.

One way you’ll be able to obtain Kid Icarus: Uprising AR cards in North America is by attending “special Nintendo events”. At these gatherings, fans will have a chance to “trade, share, and obtain new cards.”

The official Kid Icarus: Uprising website states:

“Check back on this site soon for info about special Nintendo events where you can trade, share, and obtain new cards.”

I appreciate what Nintendo is doing here, but I’m wondering how else they’ll distribute these cards. Not everyone will have a chance to make it out to these events.

Mobilip, known for their video codecs for the Wii, 3DS, and DS, is now a Nintendo subsidiary. Although the news has been catching attention today, it seems that Nintendo acquired the company last year.

Mobiclip’s website states:

“Mobiclip is now a subsidiary of Nintendo. Mobiclip is a Research and Development center specialized in the field of highly optimized software technologies. We are commited to provide the gaming industry with the latest innovations in middleware.”

A rumor popped up last month that Sumo Digital has been working on a sequel to Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing. Kotaku is backing up this speculation, noting today that the game will be released this holiday season.

If the original rumor is to be believed, SEGA will publish the game for Wii U, 3DS, and Vita.

Nintendo hasn’t said how they’ll be distributing the Kid Icarus: Uprising AR cards in North America/Europe. However, the company has started to reveal their plans over in Japan.

To promote the launch of the game, Takara Tomy is preparing “Kid Icarus Uprising Choco Snacks”. A single box will contain one of twenty AR cards.

The chocolate can be found in stores a few days ahead of Uprising’s launch. Kid Icarus Uprising Choco Snacks go on sale on March 12 for 100 yen.
