Each year, Nintendo fans are left wondering if the latest Call of Duty game will arrive on Nintendo’s home console. Unfortunately, 2011 is no different. Activision has only confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will ship for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

There have been hints of a possible Wii and DS release through retailer listings and even a cached image on the Call of Duty website. But no one is willing to say with certainty if the title will truly arrive on Nintendo platforms – not even Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling. When asked if Modern Warfare 3 will launch on Wii, Bowling simply said, “The confirmed platforms available for current pre-order is Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.”

It should be noted that Infinity Ward has not developed any Modern Warfare titles for Wii. Treyarch has handled development duties for the system over the past several years.

One possibility is that Activision will announce a Treyarch-made Modern Warfare 3 for Wii sometime down the road. There’s also a chance that Modern Warfare 2 will instead be created for the console, much like what happened in 2009 when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 – Reflex Edition was released for Wii while Modern Warfare 2 launched for the PS3/360/PC. And, of course, there’s always the disappointing possibility that Wii owners just won’t experience any Call of Duty action this year.

Whatever the case may be, we likely won’t hear Activision comment on the situation for quite some time. The company tends to hold off on publishing any immediate information relating to Nintendo platforms.

With Project Cafe on the horizon, it makes sense that most developers will be cutting back on Wii support. Everyone’s looking forward to the future, including third-party companies. One such publisher is Capcom, who recently revealed that they only expect to develop two Wii titles this fiscal year – down from five the previous year.

It’s also worth pointing out that DS/3DS games are expected to see a slight decrease as well, from eleven titles last year to nine this coming year. You can check out the full results for all platforms below (numbers in parenthesis indicate previous year data).

PS3: 16 titles, 8 million units (11 / 6.2 million)
X360: 14 titles, 4.7 million units (11 / 4.2 million)
DS/3DS: 9 titles, 2.4 million units (11 / 1.7 million)
PSP: 11 titles, 2.2 million units (11 / 6.2 million)
PC/Other: 3 titles, 500,000 units (3 / 500,000)
Wii: 2 titles, 200,000 units (5 / 1.4 million)

The initial video of the Metroid: Other M stage in Dead or Alive: Dimensions showed a brief cameo appearance by Samus. Of course, it’s a well-known fact at this point that she isn’t playable, but you can bring her out for a power bomb explosion.

When playing in the Geothermal Power Plant stage (unlock it by completing the six courses in Arcade Mode), it seems as though blowing, whistling, or speaking into the microphone will bring Samus out for a brief moment. She’ll drop her bomb, and you’ll switch positions with your opponent.
