“We haven’t given any projections beyond this holiday, but this will be the largest launch we’ve ever had as a business. We’ll definitely sell more sensors than the Wii sold when it launched or the Xbox 360 sold when it launched.” – Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg

I honestly cannot see Kinect selling as much as the 360 at launch, much less besting the Wii’s launch numbers. There hasn’t been nearly as much advertising for Kinect as there was for Wii, the install base of the 360 is smaller than the Wii’s, and I don’t think the casual market will latch onto Kinect as quickly as Microsoft thinks they will. Ah well.. I hope it does well for them, but I don’t think it’ll top what they think it will.

I doubt that many of you will be able to understand what Iwata is saying, but at least you can watch the small snippet of nintendogs + cats footage!

This information comes from Satoru Iwata…

“Of course, we cannot say it will never happen, but we are not thinking of it for the near future. Those who really wanted it would have already bought it so now we need to reach those who considered it but never got around to buying it.”

“Hopes are high for the 3DS as the first device that can show 3-D movies to reach a mass market.”

Wii sales haven’t been too bad in the United States, but they’ve clearly fallen off in Japan. It’s possible that the Super Mario Bros. console will sustain sales a bit, but I’m not too sure how effective that will be in the long run. Unlike last year, Nintendo doesn’t have a huge title for the holidays – As much as I think Donkey Kong Country Returns will be a great product, I’m not expecting its sales to come anywhere close to New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Announced earlier, Japanese developer Imageepoch (the guys behind Arc Rise Fantasia and Luminous Arc) will be holding a gaming conference in November, which will supposedly detail several new titles and announcements, including a supposed release of a game on an HD system.

Up until now, all of Imageepoch’s work has either been on portable or on Wii, so perhaps we’ll hear about some Nintendo-related titles next month.
