The Niconico stream for Smash Bros. 3DS is about to begin. It should go live at 6 AM ET / 3 AM PT. We can’t embed it, but you can watch it over on the actual website here.

Smash is officially out in Japan and today Sakurai talks a little bit about some features that will be prevalent when the game is out worldwide:

He continues, reminding us to connect online in case of any potential updates:

Even if you don’t want to be spoiled, it might be wise to select the Online option at least once before you start the game. Your Global Smash Power won’t appear until the first time you connect to the internet. Not only that, but there could potentially be a patch available that can resolve potential issues, like the one being released now for the Japanese version of the game. For the package version, updates can be pre-downloaded to your system even before you purchase the game, so make sure you look out for them.

It looks like retail version of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS will require a day-1 patch adding an additional feature to the game. The patch adds a new mode to online play called Conquest mode, which occasionally will trigger during a game and adds additional weight to the result of said match. Winning will add points to a tally that certain characters, and at the end of a certain period those points will be tallied and players associated with the winning character receive a prize.

“More than your average RPG Final Fantasy Rhythm Game”

Back in 2012, Square Enix took it upon themselves to celebrate the Final Fantasy’s 25th anniversary by creating a rhythm-based game that involves some of the best soundtracks in gaming. That game was the 3DS title Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, which was incredibly well-received and praised. Two years have passed, and now Square is at it again with Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call – another take on the rhythm based series. Featuring new music, updated visuals, and new gameplay modes, does this game offer enough to be on par with the rest of the franchise? Ir is this game a fantasy gone wrong?
