Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 - Road to Boruto

Bandai Namco is hosting one of its biggest sales yet on the Switch eShop. Games like Mr. Driller DrillLand and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – Road to Boruto, and on top of that, some titles have their biggest discounts yet.

Here’s the full lineup:

At first glance, Super Mario 3D All-Stars may seem like a simple collection that simply brings together Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy on Switch. It’s certainly true that the release isn’t anything like a remake, but Nintendo did more with these titles than one might think.

GameXplain took a closer look at the footage shown thus far, which reveals some enhancements. Super Mario 64, for instance, can be seen with higher resolution textures and improved texture filtering. Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy sport remastered cutscenes. Also, with Super Mario 64, has new button prompts.

Kingdom Hearts

Square Enix will finally be bringing a Kingdom Hearts game to Switch this year, but perhaps not in the way that fans had hoped. Rather than releasing one of the core past titles, we’re instead getting Melody of Memory – a rhythm action spinoff.

Unfortunately, Square Enix isn’t planning any other Kingdom Hearts games for Switch at the moment. Franchise director Tetsuya Nomura told Nintendo Enthusiast that the company considered porting other entries in the series, but found things to be technologically difficult.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory

Game Informer was recently able to speak with Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory producer Ichiro Hazama, co-director Masanobu Suzui, and franchise director Testuya Nomura about the upcoming Switch title. They discussed how the project happened and why it’s not a Theatrhythm title. On top of that, we have a bunch of new details as well.

Here’s the full roundup:

In May 2018, Nintendo filed a patent for a standalone Switch Joy-Con, which features images of an updated controller design. It was then officially registered in April 2020.

As pointed out by VGC, the Joy-Con from the patent doesn’t have connectors to attach the controller to the Switch console. The patent describes this as a “new design”.

It’s unclear what Nintendo’s plans are for the Joy-Con patent. The company could choose to produce an actual product in the future, though only time will tell if that actually happens.
