Thanks to Did You Know Gaming, we have insight into a couple of short-lived Retro Studios projects – specifically Adept and “The Blob Game”.
Adept was playable in a rough state, but was ultimately just a pitch that Nintendo turned out. It was running in the Metroid Prime 3 engine and was intended to show off mechanics. In late 2007 and into early 2008, Retro was working on Adept that took inspiration from Portal while evolving on the premise – primarily by introducing combat.

[Review] Star Ocean: The Second Story R
Posted on 1 year ago by Dawn in Reviews, Switch | 0 comments
System: Switch
Release date: November 2, 2023
Developer: Square Enix / Gemdrops
Publisher: Square Enix
Star Ocean has been around for a very long time, but for various reasons it has never gained the same sort of recognition or critical acclaim as Square Enix’s other long-running franchises such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. A series that blends science-fiction and fantasy in a mix that might best be described as hit-or-miss across its six installments, it seems to be something that those who have heard of it either embrace wholeheartedly or tactically avoid. But the common consensus amongst fans is that Second Story is the best the series has been to date. After bringing Star Ocean: First Departure R, a port of the PSP remake of the first game, to Switch, Square Enix have now released Star Ocean: The Second Story R, a full remaster of the original game in a new engine with a host of quality-of-life improvements to make it a more modern experience. It is with great pleasure that I say that this is a resounding success, and captures the charm of the original while improving upon it in almost every way possible.

According to a message on social media from developer Puppet Combo, Nintendo isn’t allowing Christmas Massacre to be released on the Switch eShop.
Puppet Combo announced that the game will be heading to PlayStation on November 17. In response, one fan asked about a potential Switch version. Puppet Combo then said “it’s too crazy for Switch”. The same is also apparently true for Xbox, and it won’t be launching there either.

Falcon on developing Ys X for Switch alongside PlayStation

Ys X: Nordics is a bit of a landmark release for Falcom as it’s the first time that the company’s Switch version launched alongside the PlayStation release. Of course, we’re referring to Japan here – NIS America tends to bring everything over to North America and Europe later.
Toshihiro Kondo spoke about developing Ys X for both Switch and PlayStation in a recent interview with Joshin Web. Falcom kept Nintendo’s console in mind from the beginning, and this version was actually completed first. Kondo did also pointed out how the company needed to consider Switch’s specs in mind during development.
