Nintendo Switch tariffs

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has addressed the current situation with U.S. tariffs and how that could impact Switch.

President Trump has been pursuing tariffs that would be enacted on countries such as China, Canada, and Mexico. That could affect various industries, including the video games business.

Regarding the potential impact of policies, Furukawa had this to say (as translated by Nintendo Everything):

Thousands of games are currently available on Switch, and there are a ton of demos out there for many of them. Not just Nintendo, but also third-parties are offering demos. We’ve now put together a comprehensive list of what’s out there.

Since our reader base is English-speaking, that’s what we’re focusing on here. In other words, we’re highlighting Switch demos that you can find in North America and Europe. Japan has a few extra demos on its end, but a majority of them are for titles that are not currently being sold in the west and are only playable in Japanese.

Amber Isle trailer

A final launch trailer has been released for Amber Isle. It took a bit of extra time following delays, but the dino-centric shop management sim was finally made available on Nintendo Switch this week.

Lots of details about the game can be found in the following overview:

As usual, there were a ton of new releases on the Nintendo eShop, but there’s one that went under the radar: Cosmic Fantasy Collection 2.

We previously reported on this one last year. Cosmic Fantasy 3, Cosmic Fantasy 4: Prelude to Legend, and Cosmic Fantasy 4: Van’s Return are included. You can opt to purchase everything as one collection or individual games.

Marvel Rivals Switch 2

It sounds like there’s a strong chance of Marvel Rivals finding its way to Nintendo Switch 2.

Speaking with IGN, producer Weicong Wu said that the team is “open to” a port. Wu indicated that it’s all about making sure it can perform well. As long as the game can provide “a great experience for our gameplay”, we should be seeing it on the new console. The most encouraging thing here is that NetEase has already been in touch with Nintendo and is “working on some development kits.”

With the recent release of Mario & Luigi: Brothership, it’s a better time than ever to get into the rest of the series. And with Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack, that’s rather easy. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, the first game in the series, is available as part of the Game Boy Advance app. After completing Brothership, we gave the original Superstar Saga another shot (making for this writer’s fourth unique playthrough). Despite the fact that it has a remake available on Nintendo 3DS that released in 2017, this game holds up surprisingly well – and in a way it’s actually refreshing to play after going through Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Here’s why Superstar Saga is still worth your time today. We’ll be discussing a few story spoilers, so keep that in mind before you continue.

Okami Ready at Dawn

Ready at Dawn was sadly shuttered last year, but during the span of the studio’s twenty years in operation, a port of Okami for Wii was a passion project that the company worked on. In a recent interview, co-founder Dawn Andrea Pessino spoke about what went into making it happen and the struggles involved.

Things began when Ready at Dawn and Capcom were talking during GDC many years ago. Pessino indicated that the challenges started due to a lack of resources from Capcom. Not much was provided and everything was in Japanese.
