Nintendo mobile strategy

Nintendo has reiterated that the main purpose of its mobile games are for marketing and to expose people to its IP.

Axios took a look at the situation surrounding the Big N on mobile given how Dragalia Lost shut down this week. Dr. Mario World and Miitomo were previously closed as well.

Now Nintendo has five mobile games at its disposal: Fire Emblem Heroes, Mario Kart Tour, Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and Pikmin Bloom. However, these experiences make up a meager amount of Nintendo’s overall revenue. While Switch games and hardware generated $4.5 billion between April and September, the apps earned only $169 million. Mobile tracking firm data.ai also says the Nintendo Switch Online app was downloaded more this year than Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and Pikmin Bloom.

Sonic Frontiers update 1.1.1

SEGA has issued a new update for Sonic Frontiers on Switch, bringing the game to version 1.1.1.

This week’s update seems mostly small in nature. According to SEGA, only two issues have been addressed on Switch.

The official patch notes for the Sonic Frontiers version 1.1.1 update are as follows:

Fire Emblem Engage Byleth

Byleth makes an appearance in Fire Emblem Engage as one of the characters players can summon, and details about him have now been shared on the series’ Japanese Twitter account. Serenes Forest provided a translation.

Byleth, who is voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi in the Japanese version, is a former mercenary and now acts as an instructor at the Officer’s Academy. In Fire Emblem Engage, he can increase the abilities of allies to guide them towards victory. Byleth performs the best when surrounded by allies rather than being alone.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet performance

With the release of the version 1.1.0 for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, it seems that Game Freak may have improved performance.

Many who have tried out the Switch games have been pleased with the actual game experience. However, performance has definitely been a sore spot. Putting aside actual graphical quality, frame rate dips and stutters were present throughout. However, as mentioned above, it looks like performance has started to see an improvement.
