Virtual Game Card

Nintendo shared some surprising news today, announcing the Virtual Game Card. This can be used for digital games on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

After purchasing a game digitally, it’ll load on to your system. Virtual Game Cards will have a dedicated screen for this. You can load and eject these cards, allowing you to use them on another system. Local communication is required, but only the first time. Cards can be lent out to Nintendo Account Family Group members. Games can be lent out for two weeks, and then will be automatically returned to you.

According to a report from Insider Gaming, Nintendo is planning a three-phase launch plan for Switch 2 games. This seems to be based on what the outlet has heard coming out of GDC 2025 last week.

The first part of the release will apparently begin with a focus on first-party games at launch. The second stage, which is claimed to be happening between October and November, will be for third-party studios. Following that is the third phase during the holiday period, though specifics weren’t provided.

Monster Crown Sin Eater

Studio Aurum has announced Monster Crown: Sin Eater, a sequel to the series’ previous entry which is currently on Nintendo Switch.

The team says that success of the original on Nintendo’s console allowed Studio Aurum to hire a dedicated team. A Kickstarter campaign just opened today with Switch included as an option. Additionally, we’re told that Studio Aurum is looking to obtain a Switch 2 development kit as soon as possible, and will do everything possible to make a port there possible.

Palworld Switch 2

Palworld developer Pocketpair appears to be open to a Switch 2 version of the game, despite the company’s ongoing lawsuit with Nintendo / The Pokemon Company.

At GDC 2025 last week, IGN spoke with communications director John ‘Bucky’ Buckley, who was asked about the possibility of a version happening on that console. It sounds like the team is very much open to considering the possibility so long as it’s technically possible. Buckley even said that a Nintendo Switch 1 version would have happened, but “Palworld is a beefy game.”

According to a report from eXputer writer eXtas1s, Bandai Namco plans to bring Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero to Nintendo Switch 2.

In a new video put up on YouTube, eXtas1s brings up Bandai Namco’s strong relationship with Nintendo in which the two sides have collaborated on specific projects. While Elden Ring and Tekken 8 from the publisher is also rumored, eXtas1s seems to have heard that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on Nintendo Switch 2 is something that’s specifically happening. Further claimed is that we should be getting it around the console’s launch.

Nintendo fans have been pouring over a new FCC filing that gives some hope about a GameCube controller for Switch 2.

The listing just went live today. There’s not much in the way of useful information, but the key relies in images associated with the listing.

One of the bigger questions surrounding Nintendo Switch 2 currently is what the system will cost and when it will launch. We should be getting those answers in the near future, but as the wait continues, there’s a feeling going around that the system could have the biggest launch in game industry history, even if analysts are expecting it to cost more than its predecessor.

Bloomberg shared a report today which states that Switch 2 could “become Nintendo’s priciest machine to date, as analysts who regularly communicate with the company and its software and hardware partners anticipate a price tag of $400 or more.” On top of that, there’s the issue of how much Nintendo’s margins could be impacted by tariffs. Still, there’s the sentiment that there’s significant demand among consumers.

Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo Hall effect sensor

iFixit recently posted a teardown of Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, and while there aren’t massive discoveries, it has been found that the device makes use of a Hall effect sensor – which is rumored for Nintendo Switch 2.

With the sensor, iFixit mentions that this will help preserve the alarm clock in the long-term. This is more resistant to wear and tear, so it shouldn’t break as easily. Additionally, the sensor helps to improve accuracy while using the dial to navigate the alarm clock’s menus

Nintendo Switch 2 integrated voice chat

Fans are pouring over any detail they can find about Nintendo Switch 2 as we approach the system’s proper unveiling in just a few short weeks, and now a patent has been found that points to the system possibly featuring integrated voice chat.

As you may know, there isn’t really a solution like that on the current Nintendo Switch. If you’re interested in using voice chat with supported games, you essentially need to go through the Switch Online mobile app. With Nintendo Switch 2, however, things might be different.
